While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.
"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.
"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."
Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.
"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.
"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

With that said, I stand by the remaining 95% of my post. The conclusions are the same, with or without today's story: We have been, and continue to be, betrayed by leadership at the top, in the ways I described. And if you, sinkspur (and others), choose to view holding such an opinion as donning 'warpaint,' so be it. As I said in a post a few weeks ago, I have not been calling for a revolution. I have been begging our leadership to lead, so as to avoid one.
My pleading, at that of millions of others, is falling on deaf ears.

No harm, no foul.
:-)
excuse me that was an insult?
Dan Rather?
And I don't befriend liars.
I don't know... He's on tape delay here in Los Angeles from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. PDST.
Most of the people on this thread certainly made it about President Bush.
I have posted almost nothing related to this report because even if true, it is just a small part of a much larger problem. A lot of bozos on this forum are acting like Bush is somehow vindicated on his immigration stance if this turns out to be true, hoping that others might be stupid enough to believe them.
Read the actual transcript then, and point out to me where Bush called the Minutemen "vigilantes":

If this turns out to be untrue, is what I meant to say.
I'm not at the point yet where I'll state much about this document, as I've only gotten a little more than halfway through.
But, no, it's no "egg on anyone's face" because there seems to be, just in this document so far, at the very least, special considerations and/or acquiescence being given for illegals in our country. And the Mexican Government seems very interested in somehow penalizing the Minutemen.
Do you really want me to dig up some of your quotes regarding the so-called "Assault Weapon Ban"? It was fun watching you try and twist your way out before and it will be again.
I have no idea if it was meant to be an insult. I was just stating a fact. I do not consider myself idealistic.
I'm surprised someone didn't label me anti-war. {I'm not} But I do believe the government has a moral obligation to back 100% troops sent into harms way. That includes providing the necessary manpower and equipment instead of running limited resources into the ground. State a clear and precise objective, do it, and get out. I burns me no end we do not have the COLE Bombers in custody as our so called friend Yemen let them go. It burns me no end that Saddam is not facing an American Military Tribunal but is instead in the Never Ending Trial. We have let other nations set our agenda while our leaders line their pockets selling off what is left of the United States to foreign interest.
So do I.
Thanks for doing this. I believe State Dept. should be pursuing Mexico's aggressive attempts to influence U.S. internal affairs. THAT is the serious part.
It seems the Daily Bulletin story was designed to point a finger at the USBP, and by implication the Bush administration. Very interesting.
Have not heard back from the Daily Bulletin author.
So you mean the great, big, investigation he told everyone about and which I have seen nothing from the WH to disregard, is a BUSH LIE, to thwart the MSM?
He's afraid of the old meenie MSM too, and the Mexican Government?
And don't you start with your BS. I was out demanding we go into Irag which I'm sure you can and have already found by now, little man.
PRESIDENT BUSH: I'm against vigilantes in the United States of America.
