U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Thank goodness this was sorted out before bedtime. My initial posts on the thread said that anyone who believed it was nuts and needed mental health evaluation. LOL

Then I got freepmailed a gazillion articles all claiming the same thing and I became "persuaded" by freepers who NEEDED it to be true.

We agree on the issue of increased legal immigration, I don't like guest workers I want future citizens. However engaging in the activity that makes one an illegal immigrant shows a contempt for sovereignty and rule of law, that makes me extremely suspicious about anyone in this category ever making a citizen. The US government has acted in bad faith and I will not support legal increases until walls are built, fines against employment of illegal aliens enforced, welfare denied to illegal aliens, and the Immigration and Naturalization system overhauled to be more effective in what should be a proud job.

"That is the dumbest thing I've heard tonight."

Is it? Bush calls the Minutemen "vigilantes". Maybe you agree with him?

The border patrol says it's a lie.

It really isn't going to effect my opinion of the overall issue one way or the other if its true (in fact I'll be kinda relieved 'cause I've always considered the BP itself was more or less on the side of strict enforcement) but I'd kinda expect the WH and BP management to deny charges this politically explosive.

We'll know for sure in a day or two.

>>You're the one who accused Howlin of being a liar and then you're surprised by the response you get?<<

I did not call Howlin a liar. I asked a question.

And I was in no way surprised by the response she gave.

Howlin's nastiness is legendary. While everyone has bad moments, her posts are consistently nasty and unpleasant.

She has been like that since I have been posting on this forum (since 1998, under another screenname).

Stick around and see. Just wait till she disagrees with *you* (and if you're here long enough, she will). You will be the object of her wrath in no time flat.

Wrong on both counts. I went to public school. And both of my parents are professors and very liberal.

Do you see any difference between President Bush and President Clinton or did you just mean you saw no difference on the illegal immigration issue?

That's a great question. If Clinton were in the whitehouse right now and encouraging illegal foreign nationals as they marched in the streets and shut down major cities, would you be as supportive of Clinton as you are of Bush?

Parsing words. Many of you lawyers think that the cheap tricks that work in the courtroom, somehow equals winning an argument. This is the court of public opinion, your tricks are very transparent and carry no weight.

Agents of the American government are informing a foreign, and unfriendly, government of the movements of American citizens. Not only American citizens, but indisputable American patriots who sacrifice their time, energy, and personal safety to do a job that the American government is charged to do. Not only a job that the government is charged to do, but the most pressing and important responsibility of government – to secure the liberties of the American people and the sovereignty of the republic.

The American government is as much an enemy of the American people as is any Middle Eastern terrorist organization. And, if wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing deceit contributes to degree of malevolence, then the wickedness of those who claim to represent us, and who claim to have our best interests at heart, is beyond measure.

What was George Bush doing today … as the U.S. Border Patrol was informing Vicente Fox and his anti-American cadre of the whereabouts of our Minutemen … and while several hundred more parasitic, criminal aliens entered our country across an unfortified border?

George Bush was speaking to senior citizens in Florida, instructing them as to how they should apply for federal prescription assistance.

George Bush spent the day promoting an insidious plank of his domestic socialism program, while agents of the government he leads were ensuring the ‘rights’ of the Mexican government, and the ‘rights’ of criminal Mexican citizens, who see the sovereignty of America as an inconvenient roadblock to the ‘repatriation’ of land and prosperity they intend to claim as their own.

As a result, modern American patriots’ selfless, courageous sacrifices are being diminished and negated … and their physical safety is being placed in jeopardy.

There is apparently an unprecedented deep corruption at the highest levels of our government – the most hideous breed of corruption – the kind that reeks of treason. Where does our republic’s future lie when our president lacks commitment to secure our borders during such troubling times, and prefers, instead, to proclaim the glories of socialized healthcare? What, after all, is the most essential duty of those in national office if not to secure our safety and sovereignty?

How genuinely meaningful is the ‘war on terror’ when those who are directing it are, at the same time, condemning us all to a slow death on another front that remains purposefully vulnerable and completely undefended? Calling such leadership hypocritical is too kind. Malevolent is more appropriate.

The road to globalism/one-worldism/socialism is just as unacceptable when posted with a 25 mph speed limit as it is with a 65 mph one. And those who map out the slower journey are every bit as evil and mendacious as those who would take us there quickly.

I believe I hear our Founders weeping, and imploring us to reflect on the glorious history of this republic, the monumental sacrifices that were required to make it so, and the need to assure her future (‘to provide new guards for [her] future security’) … before the time and opportunity to do so has passed.

You'll have to let me know any other time the White House has lied to the country because they would NOT lie about this. Neither would the border patrol.

I have to ask why you so WANT it to be true.
