U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.
"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.
"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."
Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.
"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.
"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

I haven't been able to read all the posts. Has anyone looked firsthand at the Mexican documents to see what they say? I linked to one, and it doesn't say anything about the US Govt "snitching."

Seems funny to me that the WH isn't taking this situation by the horns and stopping some of this in their tracks.I think they're trying to figure out how to turn this "third strike" into a "ball" right now.

Yes, we need a major attitude adjustment. But I don't really see it happening.
I mean, these goons are dusting out the old tried-and-true Flag Burning Amendment for cripes sakes!
Yeah, that's timely, and doesn't stink of desperate pandering at all! No sirree!!

I don't know what to say except I'm so tired. I have supported the President since Gore pulled his concession retraction. I am also sick of the elites preaching that we need to be civil & have a discourse worthy of America blah, blah, blah (Bush a few days ago). AOL News had a headline (about Bush's poll numbers): "How Low Will He Go? I'm just worn out.

My final word on this comes from The Holy Bible: Romans 12:21. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Thank you for this. I dearly appreciate the reminder.

I was just asking a question why you think Chertoff should resign but not Bush - what is so "ignorant" about that?

We should just ask that cabal, how Fox wants our laws worded and them change them for him and the drug cartel.
I want the mexican government to collapse. Mainly rich people live there, we have their poor and are getting more and more everyday. What do I care if their rich go broke?

The idea of President Bush or Chertoff resigning is ignorant.

Ah, yes, but was TLI a US government agent actively informing a foreign government on the movements of US citizens within the United States?
That is what this boils down to, and yes I have a massive problem with that.

Yes I unapologetically support our president.
I don't agree with him about the handling of this immigration problem.
I don't think cutting my nose off to spite my face will do anyone any good.
Remember this, Bush has not called for amnesty.
Bush recognizes that we need a certain amount of back labor and so should you.
I think his handlers have just given him some very bad advise on how to handle this massive and growing problem.
I truly believe that President Bush will eventually pull his head out and realize that the barbarians are at the gate and the door is already partially ajar.
I don't expect any thing good coming form the Democrat leadership as those people are inept in the least and most likely border line stupid at the most.
At least many blacks are coming to their senses and seeing this illegal immigration for what it is to them, a potential down grade in a caste system.

Corpse, I figured many of these "change the party from within" types were FOS when I saw the moaning and wailing on a thread concerning a primary challenge for Lincoln Chafee.
CHAFEE for cripe's sakes!! And these Pubbiebots wouldn't even think of replacing him!
It was all "we can't risk losing this seat with a no-name Republican!!" and "better Chafee than any dem!"
