SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The FBI has placed polygamist church leader Warren Jeffs on the agency's 10 most-wanted list, hoping the additional exposure and reward money leads to an arrest in the long-running investigation.
Jeffs is wanted in Arizona on criminal charges of sexual conduct with a minor. He also was charged in Utah with rape as an accomplice. He is accused of arranging marriages between underage girls and older men. "We are doing everything we can to track him down," said Tim Fuhrman, special agent in charge of the FBI's Salt Lake City field office. "We just made the determination that this is the next step that we can take as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, to potentially result in the apprehension of Mr. Jeffs."
The FBI's announcement in a rare Saturday evening news conference coincided with Jeffs' case appearing on the television program "America's Most Wanted." Although Jeffs, who is 6-foot-4 and 150-155 lbs, isn't considered armed, he believed to travel with armed bodyguards.
Jeffs, 50, is the leader of the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, based in the state line communities of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz. Jeffs has not been seen by anyone outside of the FLDS community for nearly two years...."

Then you will make a great advocate for Warren Jeffs when he is finally caught and brought to justice.
You didn't read a thing I said, did You ??
You clearly didn't read anything he wrote.
The FBI was pathetic under Clinton and it's still pathetic. Number One on my list is whoever sent the anthrax, of course the boys and girls in the FBI are clueless on that one because they do not have a name or a face for the crime. I would put that person ahead of Bin Laden because whoever it was had to have been in the country and for all we know may still be in the country. Our borders are porous and we have no idea who comes and goes but I am fairly certain Bin Laden is not in the country.
Tell me, what federal statutes did this guy violate to get on the FBI's most wanted?
I also don't depend on made for TV melodramas on the Lifetime channel for verifiable facts and evidence of criminal behaviour..
Jeffs *almost* makes Roman look like a saint. What a nasty nasty man. (Although I think we will find out more evil stuff about Roman eventually. Love that show!!

A very good book about Mormon Fundamentalism is " Under The Banner Of Heaven". By Jon Krakuener (sp.
There is also some good info to be found on Rick Ross' website about cults. Rick provides a lot of links to those who have left the polygamy cults.
The Law enforcement officers in Hillsdale and Colorado City are also members of the Polygamist cult. It is a company town and Jeffs is the CEO.
Hooked on Big Love. I think it's modeled after Jeff's community.
This guy hasn't been publicly seen in two years.
This author was on CNN last night. Very informed fellow. I'm going to get the book!
You're probably right. Also, since the Supreme Court recently ruled (Justice Kennedy writing for the majority) that sodomy among consenting adults is a Constitutional right, I wonder if somewhere in the "penumbra" of the Constitution polygamy can be found to be okay.
Me too I watch it every week. I dont see myself as being the type to have any sister wives. I'd be knocking them out. This guy Jeffs has a very creepy voice. I wouldnt be able to sit there and hear him preach or whatever he does. I dont understand why people follow men like Jim Jones, David Koresh and Warren Jeffs. I guess they're brainwashed.
The plaintiffs are Richard Jessop Ream, Thomas Samuel Steed, Don Ronald Fischer, Dean Joseph Barlow and Richard Gilbert, all of Salt Lake City, and Walter Scott Fischer of Macon, Ga.
They charge that FLDS church president and prophet Warren Jeffs and Sam Barlow, a former Colorado City police chief and close associate of Jeffs, engaged in assault, terroristic threats, unlawful dealing of property, theft by extortion, child kidnaping, official misconduct and theft of services.
The above is just some of the official charges against Jeff's and others. So far most of the police department has been indicted in Kingman.... because Jeff's crossing state lines at will (Colorado City is on the AZ border and Hilldale the Utah border so they just step over the line when need be...
As an aside -- Jeffs raped and sodomized his brothers son's -- one could not live with it and committed suicide and the other son, now an adult, came forward and told what happened, he is one of the many witnesses against Jeffs.
As to the federal statutes here is what I know:
The FBI is involved because of federal racketeering statutes (the same thing used in many organized crime prosecutions) not because he is a polygamist or child abuser.
