I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

"Conservatives could take a lesson from the Democrats. They back their folks no matter what."

And look where the Democrats are today.

LOL! The sure sign of a weak mind is to still be fighting the Harrient Miers battle.

No, I did NOT 'support' Harrient Miers...........I defended her integrity as a person, and her right to get a fair hearing, and came out strongly against the creeps who were calling her a lesbian and a cleaning lady.

I was as relieved as anyone else when she didn't succeed, and Alito was nominated in her place.

You have a foggy memory..........perhaps because you were so busy lying about me at the time.

If these loons gain control, is there ANYBODY who will remeber that we committed suicide over a single issue 6 years from now, when the Immigration problem is STILL HERE, but the media won't report on it, because a DEM is n power??

Or when the "Fairness Doctrine" takes effect, and you are no longer allowed to speak your political mind??

Or Rangell's draft takes effect, and it's YOUR kid being drug out of college to fight the politicly correct war-du-jour?

Do these people REALLY want to return to the era where the CBS Movie-of-the-Week decides the direction of National Policy??

I may be ranting, but I'm REALLY beginning to get steamed at some of these folks.....

Immigration is just ONE issue, not the only one we have to deal with.....
The cost of LOSING far outweighs any pyrric victory, in my opinion....

Ah...........so YOU take your cue from John Kerry too, eh?

Those of us who support the President have been fighting for our lives on this forum because it's been overrun by pseudo-cons and leftists.

Fighting back for the truth is not squelching anything................john.

>>>If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office.
~~~Also nonsense
This could very well happen. It's Bush's decision. He can change RIGHT NOW. But he chooses not to. He needs to build the fence, and cut back on this drunken spending.
Does he need $6 BILLION helicopters more than the nation needs the fence? Again, it's his choice.
Republicans tend to vote on issues and when you make statements like this you make it look like the issues the GOP has are not worth getting in the car and driving to the polls
Excuse me; did you think that I posted that to beging some kind of deep philosophical discussion with any of you all?
Quite frankly, you missed my point: I don't care enough about the trolls, unappeasables, and/or malcontents on this forum to engage anybody about the minute details about what the GOPs position are or what I believe in.
I made a simple statement; it's just that simple. You don't have to talk it to death.
You never have to post REAMS about the truth and the facts.
If the numbers do not correspond, then how do you determine which poll to believe?
The point of the other poll was to demonstrate discontent cannot be attributed solely to trolls or Buchanites..unless one wishes to state over half of the membership is now such.
The polls do correspond btw.
Taken together they suggest the base is seesawing back and forth over a desire to keep the Democrats out of power vs a desire to punish Republicans. The only question is what attitude prevails in November.
Pay your own damn price somewhere else; and there will be NO down the road. How many times and ways is there to say that If the DNC gets control of this government again, they are going to DISMANTLE the ELECTORAL COLLEGE and you won't get a CHANCE to rectify your ignorant stance. This is ALL you need to know: Nancy Pelosi - Speaker of the House Harry Reid -- Majority Leader Robert Byrd -- Appropriations Carl Levin -- Armed Services Joe Biden - Foreign Relations Ted Kennedy - Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Joe Liebermann - Homeland Security Patrick Leahy - Judiciary Chris Dodd -- Rules and Administration --- Tom Lantos - International Relations John Conyers - Judiciary Charles Rangel - Ways & Means Jane Harman - Intelligence Barney Frank - Financial Services Henry Waxman - Government Reform Plain and simple, you're a damn fool if you do ANYTHING that puts ANY of those people back in power.
BUMP!!! There's an awful lot of "damn fools" around here lately and I, for one, am getting sick of it. I feel like FR has been taken over by DU! grrrrrrrrrrrr
Um, you do realize that it takes a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress to get a constitutional amendment started, right?
"Seriously, friend, you cannot believe that; have you looked at FR lately? It's none stop GOP and Bush bashing."
I've watched a little herd of buddies call anyone who dares not to toe the line, down to the letter, a troll for the past two days. It's as childish as a Crevo thread. I'm not thrilled with our president right now, and haven't been, going back to that strange, eleventh hour arm-twisting episode over CAFTA. Being in NC yourself, you know what I am referencing, here.
Would I ever get to the point that I'd regret my vote for him, both times? No. But, that will never translate into unconditional support, much to the dismay of those who want us all marching in absolute lockstep, no matter what. That is wrong, and you know it.
Then you forget HISTORY, and the fact that conservatives are a MINORITY in Congress, and have been for DECADES.....
If you want change, you work WITHIN the system to get it done, by endorsing CONSERVATIVES, and working for them from the local dog-catcher on up.
You don't get it from the outside looking in. If you don't WIN, you change NOTHING.....
Ok, once an for all I need to know:
IS IT A FENCE, A WALL, Or COMPLETE AND TOTAL DEPORTATION that you want?
I am honestly trying to clarify positions and it is so doggone hard to figure out what it is that will "bring the base back to the fold."
