I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

"Instead of voting based on fear..."

That's the difference in a nutshell. We won't cast a ballot based on fear. We dare to hold the Republicans accountable. I've also heard it described as the difference between the longterm view of the party vs. short term. Fear forces you to look only at the short term. Moreover, fear is a very powerful tool of manipulation. And when someone tries to use fearmongering on me, it only makes me more resolute.

The principled among us want to improve the party and we are willing to work toward a longterm goal, realizing that we may have to make distasteful, but necessary short term sacrifices.

Oh no, you haven't had enough.

"When you get higher taxes, immediate withdrawal from Iraq, subordination to the UN, presidential impeachment over bogus charges, weaking of the laws that have helped capture terrorists...PLUS more liberal immigration laws...then maybe you'll have had enough.

But by then it'll be too late."

Yep. Not to mention paving the way for Hitlery.

It seems some people have payed too much attention to the MSM lies. Just goes to show you, if you repeat something often enough, sooner or later, people start believing it.

Want this guy setting foreign policy for the Democrats?

Murtha urges speedy return of troops from Iraq (cut and run alert).

How was the primary quashed? Typically, the President does not interfere in primaries....but he did in that instance. It cost Toomey the race. GWB's involvement was extraordinary, very much out of the norm.

Yep, y'all should just stop hiding here and start posting who you are supporting; and that your focus in Free Republic is to gain "attraction" for your non-conservative candidate. Call it Libertarian. Call it Greenie.

Why not just be honest about it.

If you have to put W down just to get attention for your candidate? Your candidate is then a loser. Think about it.

OR...is it possible that if Leftists/Democrats get elected, the GOP will believe they have to move further to the left to win elections?

Sitting out, or even voting third party will send a VERY murky message. Voting in more conservative Republicans and solidifying the parties base may actually be the BEST way to say "Look, we want to move right, not left."

This next election looks like another Bob Dole event.

No matter how much I wanted Bill Clinton to loose the election as President, there was no way that I could support Bob Dole.

For the first time in my life, I did not vote. If my only choices were Bob Dole and Bill Clinton, then there was no way that I could vote in support of either of these men.

Today, both political parties have betrayed the American people. I would be a liar, if I voted for someone that I could not trust, just because of their party endorsement.

It's so simple and so clear: what angry conservatives want is a border fence. Just agree to that this year and start building it, while kicking the can of amnesty down the road for a debate next year, and the conservative coalition will be put back together and in good shape for November.

No it's not that simple. It's only being presented as that simple for the moment.

As soon as a border fence is agreed to we'll get the next bit of agitprop. Several hundred thousand people a year enter this country with travel visas and they don't leave.

They will be the new cause celeb and the the new unreachable goal post location will be -- mass deportations.

I'll stick with THIS GUY'S principles.

Well, there is the Republican party with some conservative members and some not so conservative and then there's the evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat Party. I'd rather have a conservative Republican in office, but I'll take a not so conservative Republican over any evil Marxist liberal socialist Democrat any day of the week.

And I might express my unhappiness with some of his policies but I think I've learned my lesson about irreversibly trashing the Republican office holder or the Republican base or the party itself (at least not too much trashing). As they say, the alternative is unthinkable.

LOL! Tell that to all the people saying we have to vote Republican because they're not quite as bad as the Dems.

Your right about one thing I can't see chit cause I'm tripping over, surrounded by and overwhelmed with people who shouldn't even be in my Country. People who want to take away my home from me and my children and their children and so on. They don't even bother to learn the language of my homeland cause they intend to overrun Americans by sheer numbers and turn our Country into the turd hole they came from.

I'm sick and tired of hearing how this is not a problem. Our schools are over crowded, kids in school can't understand a word of english, roads are full so that what used to take 5 minuts to drive has now become bumper to bumper 20 minute ride. Health department lines are out the door with the brown people. I could go on but obviously some of you aren't affected by not living in America any longer and cannot fully understand what it's like to see your home being stolen piece by piece...you will eventually.

Sounds to me like you need to start holding your local officials responsible for a few things. Start by getting a covenant that covers the chickens.
