If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?
If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?
If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?
Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.
And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.
So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.
If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?
George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.
If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.
I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.
Pathetic
OK, smart guy, you explain it to me. What possible reason would the GOP movers & shakers have for advancing conservatism, if they know that they can depend on getting conservatives' votes no matter what they do?
Don't you know that you are OBLIGATED to vote for Republicans who completely ignore you? Don't you know that Republicans are entitled to YOUR vote?
Seriously, maybe the Republican Party would change change for the better if they didn't have so many sycophants readily available to make excuses for them and to inform us all that they are relatively infallible.
Vote based on conservatism, not based on loyalty to a party that spits in your face.
"08 is the time to take your personal political fight to the primaries."
I am glad you brought up the primaries. How many have said they will stay home in November or vote 3rd party? Where were they this election cycle during the primaries and before? Where were they in previous elections when the primaries were starting to shape up? Where were they during the primaries in previous election cycles?
I vote for the most conservative person who has a chance to win when the election could be crucial to our way of life. Some of the local elections are not so crucial. I don't promise how I vote in them, although I do keep the big picture in mind there too.
All the wonderful principled people here who are not going to vote for Republicans will sink the entire nation. They will get worse than they are getting now, and they will have no one to blame but themselves.
I think I am going to start taking notes on who says what, so I can throw it back at them when they, again, are complaining about not getting their way.
Would you or anyone else like to join me?
Or maybe it's just time to get a new shirt.
sinkspur....anti-Christian, anti-conservative, pro-illegal aliens, anti-American patriots, advocate of RINO's & liberals & left-wingers. Every position or view that you take is actually straight out of the DemonRATs playbook.... bar none! I have yet to see you take any conservative position on anything!
Man that is rich coming from you. You and the liberals are giving Alqueda a PR victory unseen since Nevile Chamberlain.
Congratulations, then, on helping elect a socialist Congress. Speaker of the House Pelosi will thank you for your support.
And you have never studied Economics. "Spending" doesn't doesn't work the way you think it does.
"Nonsense. Taking votes away from the GOP is the only way to incentivize it to move rightward, in order to regain our votes. If the GOP knows they'll get conservative votes no matter what, then it is only incentivized to move leftward in an effort to get 'centrist' votes."
This theory was tried from the 60s to the 90s. Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
(somehow I doubt it)
So long as high inflation is avoided, I agree.
You must spend a lot on your wardrobe then if you never wash your clothes.
Uh Sinkspur isn't advocating a rat victory like 15% of members on this site. Don't piss on my back and tell me it is raining.
We got a hall monitor now. Bwahahahahaha how lame can an adult be.
I hear you. But lets hope it doesn't come to that. I firmly believe the good people of the GOP base are going to come together this Nov...and stop the ilk of the Democrat party. Perhaps not fully out of love for the GOP. But for our soldiers in the field and for this Country on the whole.
Let's say make it a fairly important one. And, yes, compared with continuing to believe that a Republican party that behaves more and more like the Democrats every day is somehow going to change...I'd say, Yes. It is rather brilliant.
Yep. Very enlightening.
Well it's nice to know someone will appreciate my vote seeing as how the republicans haven't cared since the last elections.
