screw that...
I wouldn't have wanted to wear anything like that....
and unless I miss my guess, most of our soldiers in Iraq wouldn't want to wear that stuff either.

That's what happens when you let women into the military...More concerned about whether their butt looks fat in the new armor than doing what they are told !

But do they actually work?
If it works then it may not be so goofy.

They could try to make it look more...intimidating. That said, I wouldn't object to wearing it in that role (unless it severely restricted gunnery ability).
Could be worse.

I believe that suit would be suitable or apropos for East Los Angeles, California, Detroit, Michigan, New Orleans, Louisiana and most cities on the East Coast.

They should put some thin metal plates on the outside to make it look more like a suit of armor. Cost in weight ... maybe 5 pounds with 18 gauge steel. Then the troops will want it.
Maybe mount some oversized horns on the helmet and there ya go.

IED survivability aside, what happens when the water cooled ECU pukes out? You become a bubble boy heat casualty and put your other team members at risk as they deal with your problem. I'm guessing that the design engineers of this contraption didn't personally don the suit at the test range to evaluate their dream child...maybe illegal aliens did it for them instead.
