Okay, I hope this thread doesn't become a bitch 'n moan session about the borders.

G.W.B. has bounced back before; will he this time?

Since the sleazeclowns at USA Today won't let us post quotes, I'll just paraphrase: Bush is at 31% approval.

Weird. Rasmussen had him up. Guess it depends on which pollster's result you like.

I'm not even that big of a borders guy....but what happened to even the smaller issues?...tax reform, tort reform, vouchers?

What are these guys doing? Just gathering paychecks? In any other job they'd be fired tomorrow morning for non-performance. They deserve their ratings.

The only things that keeps them there is how bad the dims are. It really is an awful situation....and I'm a happy kinda guy.

When the mass electorate has barely an 8th grade education...it's hard to run the country based on polls.

If you did...only a POTUS that plays X-box, has a poster of Jenna Jameson in the WH, drives a custom chopper from West Coast choppers would be popular.

31% rating means he must be doing the right thing, which is often not very popular...as it is, there's what is "right" and what is "easy".

I wonder what his re-election chances are?

Oh come now. This is the type of posting that draws that kind of comments. Maybe the usual suspects are all bitchin, moaning and threatening over at the Savage thread.

He can bounce back. But he wouldn't have to if he had not completely failed in choosing his previous two press secretaries.

Snow can help a great deal, but he would have had a much easier time if he'd been the original press secretary; now the liberal press are ready to pounce after having two wimps to deal with.

wasn't Gallup one of the pollsters that predicted "President" Kerry.

I just don't want to see any dumb comment like "His poll numbers don't matter, he is not up for reelection."

Well, his numbers will have a major effect on the mid term elections. If the Democrats take over Congress, look for investigations and impeachment hearings.

Bush is in real political trouble.

I hate to say it but I think the electorate is just in one of its fickle moods. For instance how many times do we have to see polls over the last few years saying that the majority of the American people think the economy is going in the wrong direction. When it fact its been going gangbusters. Bush because he is Prez gets the wrath. Its all so frustrating but its just one of the things that happen thats like death and taxes. Its so predictable. I am not pushing the panic button yet. I don't think theses feelings of disapproval are that deep.

Bush's 'stand' -- and absolute lack of action -- on Second Amendment rights told us his real philosophy: pee on conservatives and tell 'em it's raining. Bush is all talk and he can't talk!

Well that is the reason for his freefall. Out of control social spending really bothered a lot of his base but we've given him a pass on it for a while. The tax cut was a good first step but they are only temporary and really insignificant in the grand scheme - tax reform is really what it needed.

Bush's base gave him a pass because he seemed to be doing a good job after 9/11 but even that is becoming a little doubtful now.

Miers was the first thing to really hurt his support with the party, followed by the ports deal and then his encouragement of illegal immigration during the takeover of the streets by foreign nationals was the last straw for many.

The only way Bush recovers is if the democrats do something really stupid which certainly isn't unlikely.

If only Bush had driven those school buses, this wouldn't have happened.

I assume that the public also sees the eye bulging air head as a good manager.

Of course that is what this will become. The border trolls try to hijack every thread they can to turn it into their b*tch and moan fest.

Oh, yeah, like his stand on ILLEGALS and his spending and his totally ignoring his constituients has nothing to do with his low poll numbers!

Bush has ample time to recover a win for the GOP. All he has to do is end trade agreements that have not brought good paying jobs to America, complete his promised Israel Palestine two state peace solution, cut the cost of government, issue an EO requiring illegals to register as Republican voters, have Rumsfeld to do a shuck-n-jive press conference on how Iraq insurgents sticking this fingers in ink wells will bring the troops home before November and announce Mission Accomplished on the WOT and airport security lines are not needed. Don't give up yet conservatives.

Conservative support at 52 percent and republican support at 68 percent.

My question is how in the world could bush 18 months ago have had in the 90 percent approval from both. What has changed? If you didn't like him you should have not voted for him and stopped 4 years of non stop bush bashing. You knew all his positions 4 years ago. It makes no sense to vote for someone then bash someone for 4 years.

The liberal media is euphoric about further conservative slippage so the next poll he will be in the twenties. Then when he is in the twenties media will run non stop worst president ever stories.

The bush bashing conservatives don't just want to send bush and message they want him impeached.
