Along with the lowest overall job approval rating of his presidency, the latest USA Today/Gallup poll gives President George W. Bush record low scores for his handling of a variety of national issues and perceived leadership abilities. Since January, Bush's ratings have fallen most sharply with respect to his handling of energy policy and Iraq.

He recovered.................. G.W. will RECOVER!!!
My tagline says it all
Well that is the reason for his freefall. Out of control social spending really bothered a lot of his base but we've given him a pass on it for a while. The tax cut was a good first step but they are only temporary and really insignificant in the grand scheme - tax reform is really what it needed.
Bush's base gave him a pass because he seemed to be doing a good job after 9/11 but even that is becoming a little doubtful now.
Miers was the first thing to really hurt his support with the party, followed by the ports deal and then his encouragement of illegal immigration during the takeover of the streets by foreign nationals was the last straw for many.
The only way Bush recovers is if the democrats do something really stupid which certainly isn't unlikely.
Exactly.
Yes, it is that's all you hear about on all 3 cable channels, and every week they are "in your face" demonstrating if you think that doesn't matter guess again. And it's NOT JUST discussed on FR.
The sheeple expect W to wave his magic wand and solve all the problems of the country.
Things will be fine.................. I smell something in the woods.

One final note on George W. Bushs management style and his Harvard Business School background does not derive from the classroom, per se. One feature of life there is that a subculture of poker players exists. Poker is a natural fit with the inclinations, talents, and skills of many future entrepreneurs. A close reading of the odds, combined with the ability to out-psych the opposition, leads to capital accumulation in many fields, aside from the poker table.
By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bushs political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, at least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.
"The borders" are not really one issue, though.
And it's NOT JUST discussed on FR.

That's just it--he's making the problems worse, while ignoring his base AGAIN!
Excellent post.
Excellent post!
Where've you been?
Of course that is what this will become. The border trolls try to hijack every thread they can to turn it into their b*tch and moan fest.
Oh, yeah, like his stand on ILLEGALS and his spending and his totally ignoring his constituients has nothing to do with his low poll numbers!
Oh, now I get it. He's letting America be overrun by illegals so he can get Vicente to send more of his citizens here illegally. Then (and this is where the poker thing comes in), once Americans get fed up he'll tell us that we must legalize them because there are too many to send back. What a brilliant political move.
LOL. This is a thread on Bush's leadership and you don't want folks to talk about one of the major issues they percieve he's screwing up on.
Would you like to provide a list of the other issues you'd like to take off the table while where having an open honst debate on his leadership?
I'm convinced it would lead to a clearer picture if only you would.
Bush has ample time to recover a win for the GOP. All he has to do is end trade agreements that have not brought good paying jobs to America, complete his promised Israel Palestine two state peace solution, cut the cost of government, issue an EO requiring illegals to register as Republican voters, have Rumsfeld to do a shuck-n-jive press conference on how Iraq insurgents sticking this fingers in ink wells will bring the troops home before November and announce Mission Accomplished on the WOT and airport security lines are not needed. Don't give up yet conservatives.
