WashPost Stars Mourn Over Patrick, "Latest Victim of the Kennedy Curse"
NewsBusters ^ | May 6, 2006 | Tim Graham

It can't be argued that the Patrick Kennedy adventure on wheels is being ignored by the media. But part of the coverage has been suffused in a bit of overweening Kennedy-dynasty sympathy. Washington Post reporter/columnist Dana Milbank, who danced a jig of mockery in orange hunter clothes over Dick Cheney's shooting accident, wrote in Saturday's Washington Post about the "miserable character" who suffered after the crash:

Kennedy tried to ignore the din of shouted questions as he walked to the door, but he couldn't avoid the woman in the front row who asked if he would resign. He shook his head. "I need to stay in the fight," he said. Then the latest victim of the Kennedy Curse disappeared...

The "Kennedy curse" is simply what used to be called "the curse of strong drink." That's how old Joe made his fortune and that's how his offspring, unto the current generation, have corrupted their livers and their lives.

A drunk driver slammed into a car carrying my pregnant cousin, her husband, their 3 children. They were all killed instantly, with my cousin actually being decapitated. The drunk driver crossed a divided highway and crashed into my cousin's car. She got a broken ankle and $500 fine. I despise people who let impaired drivers like the Kennedys off with not even a slap on the wrist. And that goes for the MSM.

This family went from potato-digging peasants to the Presidency in four generations. Looks like the way back down is a little more steep and slippery. Another generation and they will all be lying in the gutter.

Are you stuck there with no means of escape? Or do you support the Kennedys, Kerry, Barney Frank, etc.?

I never voted for any of them---I'm just stuck with them.

Goegraphically I love New England and that's where most of my kids and grandkids are,

Think good thoughts about us conservatives braving the ultra liberal air around here.

It ain't easy !!!!!!!

Patches gave one of the more flagrant public displays of narcissism seen in modern times at this press conference. He hit all the necessary liberal code words to provide him and his knee-jerk supporters cover to shunt aside any criticism of him by labelling it as mean-spirited. 'Icans should stand up and point out this example of the 'Rat culture of corruption and gratuitous special privilege (COCGASP) early and often.

The "curse" is hubris.

"Hubris is a common theme in Greek tragedies and mythology, whose stories often featured protagonists suffering from hubris and subsequently being punished by the gods for it. In Greek law, it most often refers to violent outrage wreaked by the powerful upon the weak. In poetry and mythology, the term was used of those individuals esteeming themselves as equal to or greater than the gods. Hubris was often the "tragic flaw", or Hamartia, of characters in Greek drama."

Ah, the Kennedy Curse. Is that the one where a guy who lives a privileged life and should be home is out drinking with hotties at a bar until nearly 3 AM, then jumps in his "I'm not really an old guy" Mustang, smacks into stuff, and gets driven home by police?

Curses!!
