Father Faces Felony Charges For Rushing To Injured Daughter's Side

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- A panicked father who pushed past rescue workers to get to his injured daughter at the scene of a car crash now faces felony charges.
Karl Swanson of Holiday, Fla., told the St. Petersburg Times he got a call from his daughter's cell phone late Tuesday: "Listen," the caller said, "your daughter's been in a terrible accident. She's in critical condition. It doesn't look good."
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the 48-year-old anesthesiologist drove into the accident scene, narrowly missing an emergency helicopter, then pushed past a trooper and a paramedic to get to his 18-year-old daughter's side.
Swanson was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and battery on an emergency medical care provider. He is free on $10,000 bond.
"Basically, he made a very serious and stressful situation worse," Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Larry Coggins said. "When people just relax for a second and listen to reason, we always let them see their loved one."
Swanson's daughter, 18-year-old Krystyna, remains in serious condition at a hospital. On Wednesday, he defended his response to the crash.
"They told me my daughter was dying," he said Wednesday. "They told me to go there. So that's what I did."
What is your purpose for asking? You are arrogant and shouldn't care why a story is posted. It seems, though, that with the response of numerous posts, that his purpose was well worth it. Shew, flea!
Not to mention that an Anesthesiologist is a full medical doctor and might be a bit smarter medically than the paras on scene!

This really hits close to home.
My ex husband remarried and has a beautiful family. He and his wife are good people, good parents.
His 18 year old daughter ran her car into a tree a few weeks ago; she would have graduated this year.
The accident happened less than 200 yards from their driveway. She was on her way home from school.
My brother told me they (state trooper)called him (ex) at work, and from what I understand he drove home.I don't know about the wife, but she had to have heard the ambulance and fire sirens, and seen the lights. She is a stay at home Mom.
The school bus was the first to come upon the wreck scene and call the rescue authorities, and a younger daughter was on the bus.
I can't imagine the horror this family is going through. I can't help but hurt for them, and I have been praying for them everyday. Nobody should have to bury a child, I can't imagine how painful that would be.

Sorry you had to go through such a tragedy. I just can't get my ex and his family out of my mind. I have been praying that God bring them comfort, because it had to have been a horrible experience.
And I suspect a parent never stops grieving over a lost child. So sorry to hear about your daughter.

I suppose I could have easily ended up in a situation similar to this guy. Prayers for his daughter and the rest of their family.
Has common sense left us? Is there nobody left who, when confronted with an unpleasant situation, doesn't immediately wish to file charges or file suit?
There a horses ass at every hospital getting their kicks being , well, horses asses.
"Oh my, yes, let emts treat your (possibly) dying child, when you are a doctor trained in emergency care. That makes sense!"
They are not trained in emergency care. They are sititng on a chair in the OR and tube the patient who is laying there with a perfectly clear airway. We tube people whose mouths are full of vomit, food, broken teeth... on the side of the road or sometimes, in the seat, while the car is bieng cut apart so we can get them out.

hospital and on that lifeflight taking
care of our son.

Well as you can probably guess I barely made it out of English class as an undergrad.
But that aside some people have a power complex and want to project their fear of failure on to others.
