U.S. Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy was with a woman at his Capitol Hill home Wednesday night before he smashed his Mustang convertible into a barricade near a House office building, according to a published report.
She tried to dissuade me from leaving the house, he told The Providence Journal. And she wishes she had done a better job dissuading me.
The unmarried lawmaker declined to give the womans name and says he only knows she tried to stop him because she has since told him so.
Kennedy, 38, spoke to the paper before heading to Minnesota for addiction treatment at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.
In his latest account of what happened early Thursday, the son of U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said he took the stomach medication Phenergan earlier in the night during a House session. But he said he does not recall taking the sleep aid Ambien - even though he assumes he must have.
Kennedy has said since Thursday night that a cocktail of the prescriptions put him into a stupor he cant recall.
It was scary, he said.
Capitol police officers stopped Kennedy after he hit the barricade and drove him home without administering field sobriety tests.
The next step for Kennedy, he said, is, Ive got to do total abstinence, period. From now on, obviously, Im a very public face with addiction and alcoholism written on my head.
Question: Don't these cops have that stainless steel chain with the sharp triangular knives on them that can be yanked across the road? Those blades will flatten any tire that goes over them immediately. Why did he get so far as to hit something?
Is he in the habit of driving around at 3 AM...especially after she tried to make him stay home??
The drugs, booze....Hey, that's nothing for this family...It's the woman thing that causes the problems...like Mary Jo!!
"Daddy, may God bless Saint Oldsmobile; there MUST be a bridge in Rhode Island."
"No, son; you must find your own solutions in life...maybe chromic acid...".
"When the Founders wrote the Constitution and gave the Senate the power of advice and consent on Presidential nominations, they never intended the Senate to work against the President, as this Senate is doing, by engaging in a wholesale stall and refusing to act on large numbers of the Presidents nominees."
-Senator Ted Kennedy (d-MA) speaking in defense of President Clinton's nominees in 1999
BULL BULL BULL....His problem is he keeps talking. He didn't know he TOOK the medication. He keeps wanting us to buy things and then gets stupider about it. People might buy he didn't remember getting in the car, but not remembering TAKING the medication? Please. Every alcoholic, at one time or another, and I say this from personal experience...BLAMES a bad medication combination for their bad alcoholic behavior. He can go to as many rehabs as he wants, but until he's honest, it won't do a damn thing.
I believe he is a "confirmed bachelor".
ROTFL........that says (ahem) a lot. Still can't understand why the dumb cops never found "Bruce" ----wearing black lace undies----in Patty's trunk.
Was this "accident" road rage?? It seems like the one a couple of weeks ago indicates that one as possibly being road rage.
Unmarried is forgivable but "lawmaker", whoa!
Rush got addicted to opiate drugs because of his 3 bad spinal disks. I almost did also. It is so very easy to slide into when you are not paying attention. There are powerful, non-addictive drugs that solve the original problem.
Judge him after he becomes healthy.
No one seems to question some things here -- like he says he cannot remember anything about the incident and he also says he didn't ask for special treatment from the Capital Police -- if he has no memory of the incident how does he KNOW he didn't ask for special treatment?
Don't forget, not only is his father a heavy drinker, his mother has been a non-recovered alcoholic for many, many years... and if memory serves me correct, one of her sons (I think it was Patrick) was just given control over her because of her latest drinking episode.
The manufacturer of Ambien ought to sue Kennedy for Slander.
In her case, I don't see how her child stands a chance of turning out 'normal' with her parents history.
"She tried to stop me from parting my hair like I lived in the 80s but I didn't listen."
