Republican Right Abandoning Bush
MSNBC ^ | May 5, 2006 | AP

WASHINGTON - Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.

The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a president’s term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

Wow! This is news?

I think that the percentage of FReepers who are standing behind him because he is a Republican and thus "by definition" better than a Democrat is about 50%. The other 50% percent see what we that was the greatest and best opportunity of the last hundred years wasted.

Clinton, as much as I hate the man, was never afraid to use the veto pen. His point was simple "those who love me will love me, those who don't won't be anymore pissed off at me with this veto because they already hate me to the max."

It may be a good thing in GWB's favor that he wants to have all Americans like him. And he has always tried hard to do it that way. But there is no gentle way to conduct radical surgery.

And, God help me, that is what this country needs if we are going to continue as a country.

Iam not trying to teach a lesson. But I am done supporting any rino. When you vote for the lessor of twoevils you still get evil. I willvote for conservatives who run, regardless of party, but for open border socialist rinos nothing.

You had better get your head out of the sand and realize what the alternative would be if the Dems are in charge, and don't give me that old mess about teaching the Republicans a lesson.

You're right.

Let's reward the RINOs for letting them let the Democrats continue to control the agenda even though we voted the Democrats out of control.

Let's put them back into the jobs that they cherish more than anything else so they can continue to spend us into oblivion and vote to restrict our liberty some more.

Yeah, great idea.

These MSM polls are about the dumbest crap I've ever seen. First, a Republican just barely right of center (not conservative) is far better than the Democrat libs being touted as the hero of the day and when all tears are dry even the conservatives will go out and vote for the Republican just to keep the lib out if needed.
Second, even the most middle of the road voter will always lean slightly right instead of a cop slugging, dope smoking, cocaine snorting, exhibitionist, child rape protectionist lib.
Third, congressional races are by districts and states, not by a national referendum, and the poll I just recently saw was that 60% of district voters approve of their own representative meaning they just hate the other guy which they couldn't vote against anyway.
Forth, who gives a sh*t about Bush's poll numbers because no one will ever vote for him again.

If anyone wants to make a difference then vote the RINOs out and put a conservative in but in the end if it's between a Rino and Lib I have to go for the Rino. At least with a Rino, Chaffee excluded, you get 30% of what you want but with a Lib you get 3%.

..and really wouldn't allow an invasion..

Do you really think that without the Soviet Union, the U.S. would not have moved into the Middle East long ago? IMHO the invasions were put on the "to do" list upon the fall on the Berlin Wall.

"His viewpoints on immigration legal or other wise were there for everyone to see."

When W accepted the charge of President, his "personal" support of illegal aliens and their disregard for the law became a moot point; upholding the rule of law is his sworn duty and he best perform that oath to the best of his ability until the laws he doesn't like are amended or repealed.

Otherwise, his calculating the American public is too slack to see what's happening will bite the Republican arse hard, with President Bush providing the teeth.

What are you talking about?

I'm referring to the invasion on our South West border that Jorge Arbusto has not seen fit to stop.

You ar correct. I may not like waht is going on, but i am not ready to see a democrat takeover. Most republicans will show up at the polls because even though we havnt got much its better than the opposition.

Take into account:

Runaway spending
Runaway taxes on a state a local level
CFR
Medicare Pill Bill
The Open Border
ETC.....

Voting for rinos is working so well. </SARCASM OFF>

I will not vote for someome who is not conservative. Period. If that means I skip a vote of go third party so be it.

Amen to all that. The MSM and the Dem's are in for a real shock if they think we R's are going to sit on our arses and cry and not vote the true conservatives in the best we can. I think this Nov vote will be huge on both sides. Get off your arses and campaign for the best R you can find!

I had high hopes after 2004. Really thought President Bush was going to show his true conservative colors. Boy was I wrong. If anything, he got more liberal and more stubborn.

So as much as I want to believe that President Bush and the rest of them will shape up in the next 6 months, I just don't think it's going to happen. If they do start trying to turn this Titanic around, it's probably going to be too late for many in the Republican party.

You know I would have a little more hope if President Bush even acknowledged that the border issue is one of the causes of his low ratings but when asked about his low ratings, it doesn't enter his brain at all.

I will vote Republican in 2006 and 2008 but I think quite a few of us will abstain. Something radical has to happen now because the iceberg is getting closer and closer. The Republicans have blown it big time.

Boy, this is going to be the funniest election of all times. I can't wait to walk down the street after this one. I'll count all the conservative faces without noses . . . it will be a real scream!

Ahhhh...some of the voices of sanity that made me like this site in the first place.

The past two mornings here I was ready to say "Adios," but of course, that would have gotten me labelled a Bushbot AntiAmerican Traitor Who Loves Illegal Immigrants And Is A Commie Loving RINO Who Hates Savage, when only the last two words are accurate.

Nice to see this place isn't completely overrun with whiners who look at what the MSM pollsters cook up and cry "We're dooomed! And it's all Bush's fault!" Yep, those tax cuts, SCOTUS appointments, the economy and WOT really suck, don't they.

The only two promises that Bush made with the economy was that he would push to make the tax cuts permanent, which he is, and he would cut the deficit in half by the end of '08 which will actually be done by the end of '07 if the economy stays this strong. The thing about immigration are the one hit wonder's talking points. Everyone agrees the border needs to be secured but the crybabies "won't vote" even if the border is secured as long as there is a plan for a guest worker, amnesty, butt buddy, pen pal, whatever program. The immigration issue, regardless what happens as long as something happens, will only get Bush's AR up maybe 7-8% because no matter what 2/3rds will be unhappy.

I don't see much evidence of that around here. But then I go over to DU, and you'd think they'd be dancing in the streets over Bush's poll numbers, but they're in full moan mode, too.
