...and others on this thread ....
..Your intelligence, patriotism, understanding of this gives me such hope and confidence!!
I thought losing Porter Goss was tragic....
..but your words have brought a restoration of spirit.
Please know there are many... like myself... who are not as informed and knowledgeable as you and appreciate the perspective you bring....
...More folk read FR than we can ever imagine, and learn a great deal, I'm sure!
Thanks for the education!

federak (not state) candidates is May 12.
Makes it even more interesting.

What makes it even
more interesting is Drudge's headlines.
Who to believe?....or is this advance tarring to get Goss out of the way?
To: Sal
It would be interesting. I live in Florida and I was active in GOP politics for awhile in a county other than the one that I'm living in now. Harris is/was a good candidate, but nobody - in the GOP establishment - ever got behind her. However, the local clubhouses have not been able to get behind any of the others, either, mostly because the local GOP groups have RINO party hacks running them, probably connected to party hacks in Tallahassee.
They need a strong candidate who's willing to take them on, and maybe Porter Goss could be this candidate.

Well, look at this:
2. January 1972 - May 1975, Chief, Current Intelligence Division, Headquarters 8th Air Force, Andersen AFB, Guam
Half the B-52's flying over Hanoi during the famous Christmas Bombings (Linebacker II) of 1972 flew from Guam. Hayden was in the thick of it. It's possible his intelligence saved aircrews lives during the height of the operation. Also, he was in Guam for Linebacker I, which occured in May of 1972 IIRC.
Since the Air Force cannot fight and fly without the guys at base bustin' their butts to keep launching, it's possible to be awarded combat medals for direct war support even outside the actual zone.

Replacing a Yalie with a graduate of Duquesne University... what is the CIA coming to?
To: Grampa Dave
Sending this to Joe Biden. If I see him at the Intelligence Committee hearings with band aids on his head, I'll know he got it.

Nope. Gen Hayden was promoted while he was at NCEUR/EUCom which was long in the works when he took over there. That assignment would have been made while Bush I was still president. He started at Stuttgart in May '93, so the assignment was probably made 6 months prior, and the assignment would have required the promotion.
I was in ESC/AFIC/AIA when General Hayden became Commander, and knew him, having met him on several occasions. One thing he really knew well was precision weaponry with regards to bombing/air strikes, and the role high tech would bring to them. While at Air Staff in the Pentagon, then Col Hayden worked diligently to provide bomb assessment damage after Gulf War I/Desert Storm. He got the EUCom job and promotion do to this hard work and skill. Interestingly enough, I was also at the Pentagon during this same time.
I made Senior Master Sergeant under Clinton's reign. I swear, he had NOTHING to do with it!

I can see Biden with bandaids where his hair core transplants used to be.

You got that right. You can't expect the 'Praetorian Guard' to reform themselves.

This guy takes no crap from anyone, and he will hand the Democrats their asses back on a plate. I don't know this guy, but I'm impressed by the enthusiasm of fellow Freepers who do. He is obviously not Harriet Myers.

GENERAL HAYDEN: "Let me emphasize one more thing that this program is not -- and, look, I know how hard it is to write a headline that's accurate and short and grabbing. But we really should shoot for all three -- accurate, short and grabbing. I don't think domestic spying makes it. One end of any call targeted under this program is always outside the United States. I've flown a lot in this country, and I've taken literally hundreds of domestic flights. I have never boarded a domestic flight in the United States of America and landed in Waziristan. In the same way -- and I'm speaking illustratively here now, this is just an example -- if NSA had intercepted al Qaeda Ops Chief Khalid Shaikh Mohammed in Karachi talking to Mohamed Atta in Laurel, Maryland, in say, July of 2001 -- if NSA had done that, and the results had been made public, I'm convinced that the crawler on all the 7 by 24 news networks would not have been "NSA domestic spying." Had this program been in effect prior to 9/11, it is my professional judgment that we would have detected some of the 9/11 al Qaeda operatives in the United States, and we would have identified them as such."
