L. Sprague de Camp, in his fantasy novel "The Fallible Fiend" had a subplot involving a professional wrestler who became the head of his nation because he was the best wrestler. It was intended as satire, but like much of de Camp's work ended up forshadowing future events.

Is this the guy that used to sing the Russian national anthem to rile up the crowds?

Same guy. I believe then Hacksaw Reynolds would then come out with a 2x4 to end it.

Come on, the DC apparatchiks have very fond memories of the USSR.

They try to emulate it at home at every opportunity.

Cool. I used to watch him wrestle on WTBS out of Atlanta when I was a kid. Anyone remember Gordon Soley?
