His addiction curve is getting closer to his bottom. Not there yet, though, because of all the Kennedy enablers. Next "incident" will be fatal for someone.

Patrick's mother is a complete mess. His whole FAMILY is a complete mess.

How anyone could idolize these people escapes me.........but many still do. Incredible.

Really it depends on which type of bi-polar he is. There are 2 types. Do you say the same to our military on the battle fields fighting, they can't be soldiers because they suffer from depression? If so, then you would have to cut our force by at least 1/3.

One reason why I would believe he is bi-polar ...

If you look at Kennedy's actions in the past it is easy to see he fits the old description of bipolar: Manic Depressive.

His shoving of the Airport Screener some time ago seems like a Manic Episode.

That being said, it's obvious why he is going into rehab. He got caught. He should still be procecuted as well as the officers that new he was drunk and gave him a pass.

Yes, and I wonder if he still takes his meds. Meds for bi-polar are aweful.

Also, I wonder if he has had suicide attempts. They are very common in bi-polar folks.

I think most of us are sensitive to addictions. In some way or another, drugs, alcohol, or depression, many have experience whether family, friends, or just know of --.

Most of this is about the swimmer (had to say that) and the power he still has on the Hill. Just the fact that the police rescued the grown son enabling him to further problems which would eventually take his life or worse, someone else. All because of the power of the name. What bothered me the most is the fact the grown son has not learned to take responsibility for his actions.

In the end, this may be the saving of Patrick Kennedy.

More likely, all Kennedy kids who hold office are told that "on your way to a vote" excuse. I'll bet a bottle of Glenlivet that Senator Teddy has used it many times.

Very good point. Someone get that out there. Remember the lib drive-bys all thought Cheney must have been drunk?

Indeed, what are the # of hours of delay in "informing the American people" (gag) in both cases? Somebody knows this.

Actually, I'm suprised this hasn't come out before and I'm very curious of why type of bi-polar he is. Manic is VERY hard to treat and takes along time to find the balance. If I'm not mistaken, Manic Bi-polars most often turn into schezophrenia. They have learned that many schezophrenics were bi-polar earlier and usually turns into schezophrenia in their early 30's

Yep, that's the police report as obtained by The Smoking Gun. The Smoking Gun notes that two different checkmarks relating to drunk driving were checked.

Under the "Sobriety" section of the report, the "Had been drinking and ability impaired" box was checked. The other options were "Had not been drinking", "Had been drinking and obviously drunk", "Had been drinking and not impaired", "Had been drinking and impairment [obscured]", and "Had been drinking and other".

Under the "Contributing Circumstances" section, the following boxes are checked: "Speed", "Alcohol Influence", "Wrong side of the street" and "Driver inattention".

Meds for bi-polar are awful.

Yes they can be if the Doctors don't study the case closely and prescribe the correct meds and the correct doses.

I knew of one person that had quite drastic Manic Episodes because of improper drugs. I insisted she be monitored closely (she fooled them quite well with only one day of observance) for a week.

They changed her drugs completely and now she is fine as long as she takes her meds.

I wonder if he has had suicide attempts

It could be common with bipolar, I don't know.

When I worked with tweakers (meth addicts) through a local jail the Jail Psychiatrist would diagnose every single tweaker as bipolar. I think it was a copout on his part. But it served the purposes of the authorities, they could drug the people up so they were docile and then prosecute them easier.

If any I worked with were sucidal, I didn't know. It seemed they were not.

Personally I think many Manic Depressives would rather kill everyone else rather than themselves! Just IMO.

I think most Congress members know to use that excuse.

That Congresscritter that punched an LEO the other day when she tried to slip by the metal detector with no ID pin used the same excuse.

I wouldn't be suprised if he hasn't had suicidal thoughts, the anti-depressant drugs can cause that alone. Many other illnesses come with bi-polar and actually bi-polar can be difficult to diagnosis considering it can mimic other disorders. It's obvious he doesn't have it under control. Drug addiction is very common in them as well, which only agiates the disorder even more. Remember it's a chemical imbalance. I wouldn't be suprised if Kennedy resigns after this.
