IMO the real question is where was he going at that hour. Lights out, cruising the streets of D.C.

He probably had a few drinks in his office, a few more in Tubby's office and then a bottle from his trunk for the drive. My guess is that he was on his way to a bar not home, it's too early for him to be going home.

Right about now I'm beginning to think the everyday Capitol police officer is feeling quite disrespected.

That was one of National Lampoon's most infamous (and funny) ads.

Oh I feel soo much better. He was taking anti nausea medicine and Ambien. Great idea to get into a car and drive under the influence of Ambien.
WABC radio just reporting he was in an auto accident just a month ago.

Why would anyone take Ambien unless they were already home ready to crawl into bed or on an airplane before a 5-hour flight? I would think he'd be safer drunk! Especially combined with Phenergan. That stuff hits in about 15-30 minutes.

Driving While Impaired is serious, yet he is given a pass.
Just let the twin daughter of the president order a drink while under age and it's a high crime.

PS: Don't forget these bars a block away from the "accident scene": Bullfeathers of Capitol Hill 410 First Street SE Washington, DC 20003 (202) 543-5005
Tortilla Coast 400 1st St SE Washington, DC (202) 546-6768
And this one a couple of blocks away...
Hawk 'n Dove 329 Pennsylvania Ave. SE 202-543-3300
Those are all fine bars. Of course, just a few blocks farther south:
