Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I) will cooperate with a United States Capitol Police investigation into a traffic incident that occurred early Thursday morning involving the lawmaker.
“I was involved in a traffic incident last night at First and C Street SE near the U.S. Capitol,” Kennedy said in his statement. “I consumed no alcohol prior to the incident.”
According to a source close to the Capitol Police, Kennedy crashed his vehicle into a security barrier shortly before 3 a.m.
Reports have indicated that Kennedy allegedly told officers who stopped to investigate the accident that he was late for a vote after stepping out from the badly damaged vehicle.
A spokeswoman for the Capitol Police could not be immediately reached for comment. But in a statement titled “Traffic Accident” on its website, Capitol Police stated, “The United States Capitol Police are investigating a traffic violation that occurred in the early morning hours on May 4, 2006 in the 100 Block of C Street, SE.”
Officers reported a strong smell of Scotch whiskey coming from the car, which Kennedy explained by saying that he'd given a lift to his Uncle Ted a few years ago and "I can't get that odor out." The report indicates that Kennedy may have been distracted by the lampshade over his head, and the gin and tonic he had just spilled in his lap.
Anyone with any sense realizes that any derogatory videos appearing against the Kennedy's were doctored by Karl Rove and released.

This was at an intersection in back of the Cannon House Office Building and across the street from the RNC. I think there are security cameras all around. I'll bet there is a tape of the accident. It's a side street so probably no red light cameras.
The other driver, who's handwriting is legible, decribes Kennedy pulling out in front of his car. He must have been drunk, and it was 10:00 -- in the morning!
They sure talked about the Bush twins enough.
God, their excuse-making is already in high gear. They truly would defend Jeffrey Dahmer if he hated Bush.

Very interesting. I'd bet any money that some how the video from that hour of the day ends up somehow becoming corrupted.
