9 News has learned U.S. Capitol police officers are concerned about the handling of an accident involving Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-Rhode Island) about 3 a.m. this morning.
Rep. Kennedy was reportedly behind the wheel of a green Ford Mustang when it crashed into a security barrier at 1st and "C" streets Southeast.
There are no reports of injuries. A Boston TV station is reporting Kennedy told officers he was late for a vote. We are told police drove him home after conferring with higher-ups in the department. So far, Kennedy HAS NOT been charged. A spokesman for his office told CNN that alcohol was NOT involved.
The head of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1, Lou Cannon, told 9 News that he’s concerned that Kennedy may have received special treatment and this could be a case where “rank has its privilege.”
Cannon also told 9 News that officers noticed the car swerving, looking as if it was going to make a U-turn.
9 News reporter Stacey Cohan spoke to Kennedy's press secretary at his congressional office in Rhode Island, who said she is looking into the situation, but does not have any information right now.
Congressman Patrick Kennedy is Ted Kennedy's son. He is currently serving his sixth term as the Democratic Congressman from Rhode Island. He sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.

According to the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives the House adjourned at 12:59 on May 3rd.
US Constitution - Article 1 - Section 6. The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their services, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the treasury of the United States. They shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.
So, you see why Patches used this particular excuse?
I think Ted may have a neck brace laying around that Patrick can use.

The collection of evidence for alcohol and/or substance abuse was not allowed to be done by someone.
The person responsible for permitting this illegal decision should be investigated and fired. The buck must stop somewhere...
Sad to say, but under the US Constitution the police supervisor made the right call. Congress was in session. It would be illegal for them to detain Patches after he tells them he is on the way to Congress for a vote or a debate. The Police were not even allowed to question him.
I don't much like it, but there it is in Article 1 Section 6. Of course, Patches should have been enough of a man to take his medicine instead of hiding behind this technicality... but we all know that was never going to happen. He's a Kennedy, and Kennedy's always pull every possible string to get themselves out of trouble.
LOL they will have an afadavit from the man who supplied the concrete barrier that it should have been able to move for Patches.
Lets see if the media apply the same standards here as they did to the Vice-President. Lets see who in the main stream media first complains about slow reporting, "privilege" and cover-up

I wonder where his silver Crown Vic was. You know, the one owned by Friends of Pat Kennedy? Oh, maybe it's still in the shop getting fixed after he turned in front of the guy on 4/15.
I checked on Sheila Lash (the witness from the 4/15 crash), but nothing interesting there. Shucks!
It is about time for Nancy or Harry to jump up and say we are only interested in the negative, that we are being divisive, that we are practicing the politics of personal destruction, that we are attacking a fine civil servant on his way to vote, that we have no business inquiring about Pat's personal life, that he may have a medical condition and it is none of our business, etc., etc.
List looks too short. I must have left out a few.
