We do not wish to rely on French tenacity in the war on terror; we learned that lesson a long time ago. Let the French try to invoke whatever treaties they want to request Moussaoui's extradition, and let them stomp their feet when we tell them to pound sand.I couldn't have said it better.

This article seems pretty on point. I can't picture the French giving this creep more than 8-12 years.

If we allowed him to go back to France, he would be back on the streets in just a matter of time. I sure pray the U.S. never gives him over to anyone else!

Let's send him there....in a jet with no pilot and packed full of C4.
To: 68skylark
I'd trade the guy back to the French under the condition that they let him fly the plane on the approach into Paris. /sarc

Envoyer quelqu'un comme lui est très cher. Pouvons-nous vous donner la
moitié de lui cette semaine, et l'autre moitié la semaine prochaine?

We can send him to France once he has finished serving his life sentence.
To: 68skylark; rightwinggoth
They have Carlos the Jackal. He got married in prison a couple of years ago (to his French leftist attorney, who converted to Islam to marry him), and has had visits from heads of state (Hugo Chavez, if you can call VZ a state anymore). In other words, life in a French prison ain't bad.
And, what's worse, I bet we let the French have him.

Even if we magically knew that they would intend to keep him locked up, France as we know it will officially cease to exist within 20 years, making it a moot point anyway. Moussaui would be sprung in a jailbreak or freed by the Head Imam Of The New Caliphate Of France.

...on what basis should he not be extradited to France? On the basis that we captured him fair and square, and we aren't going to give him to the French to be released in a few years. The French can pound sand.
