This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. What does removing gender specific terms from textbooks have to do with teaching the contributuions of homosexuals.

Right you are. These guys are smart. As goes California and Texas, so goes the rest of the textbooks in the country. They are the only two states to approve their texts at the state level.
I'd like to know, too. Used to think it was Virginia, but lately that theory has been blown apart.
The atmosphere here in Texas is pretty conservative, but being one of the fasted growing states, we reap the unintended effect of the migration of liberal northeasterners with their communist worldviews. I'd say any state that has ammended their constitution to prohibit same-sex "marriage" AND civil unions should be pretty high on your list.
I think Arnold wants it to become law.

Perhaps if California lost 3-5 million illegal VOTERS, perhaps we could go back to being the state that elected Ronald Reagan as governor.

A few years ago, even I, a San Francisco resident, might have suggested that you were exaggerating. Not today. The way things are being portrayed in pop culture, we're getting to the point that girls are encouraged not to 'limit themselves' to boys as sex partners, and it's only a matter of time before guys are going to be treated the same.
Moving from the fake world to the all-too-real: after years of promising "we only want to be free to be who we are," there's no doubt about it anymore; the Gay-stapo wants the power only accorded by law to make everyone like they are, and to marginalize those who resist as archaic, hateful, and dangerous.
P.S.: I don't have this on authority, but I read somewhere that since Brokeback Mountain was released, sales of cowboy hats have plummeted.
Since Kalifornicate orders a LOTTA textbooks, this may be a problem for other States who actually retain sanity.

You may be referring to syndicated talkhost Michael Medved, who at one time co-hosted the PBS program Sneak Previews that earlier introduced Roger Ebert and the late Gene Siskel to America.
I realized I was a social conservative when I picked up Medved's Hollywood vs. America and read what I had been thinking for years on a printed page at last (My Amazon.com review is here, titled "Read The Book Hollywood Doesn't Want You To Read.") Medved noted that the showbiz industry wanted to have it both ways when it comes to the influence it wields over its viewers -- they would say audiences are not affected by rampant violence, gore, profanity, and sexual depravity, but insisted on millions in fees for product placement of brand-name products. Medved specifically highlighted the bidding war over whether the alien in E.T. would eat M&Ms or Reese's Pieces (Reese's won out, and sales skyrocketed).
Back in 1987, in a call to a talk show on which two local film critics were guests, I told them of how frightening it was that two critically acclaimed R-rated movies involved non-judgmental plotlines centered around men having sex with underage girls (Wish You Were Here! and Rita, Sue & Bob Too). After predictably being dismissed as prudish for my point-of-view, I stunned the critics into silence when I asked them what they would think of an adult male who would take a teenage girl to see either of those films.
A "Brave New World" was EXACTLY what I was thinking... This is really a discrimination against straight people, the practice reference to or mention of any sexual relationship that is anatomically possible... that's what is being abolished from the schools. We're not only becoming too accepting, but we're acting as if anything relating to a male and female coming together is some sort of attack on homosexuality. Seriously, I do not understand that and I never will. Since when is being straight or having a Prom King and Queen discriminant of gays? People are all people and as people should be treated equally... not treated to the point where they abolish materials that contain information on what the normal family structure is from the places where children are raised in part. We don't need to confuse young children like this. We don't need to teach them that everything is OK. If this passes, this is one of the sickest forms of propoganda I have seen. This is just another step closer to eliminating the importance of family. Who knows, maybe someone is just concerned with overpopulation or wants to increase the extinction rate of the human race... Whatever.

well if you can convince everyone that gross promiscuity is a good thing then perhaps it isn't so far to challenging this rule as well.
