Vice President and Mrs. Cheney are in Lithuania where the VP will meet with leaders in the region regarding furthering democracy there. The Vice President's visit to Vilnius is the first stop in a three-nation, six-day trip that includes bilateral meetings with leaders of the Baltic and Black Sea regions at the Vilnius Conference 2006. Secretary of State Rice and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld briefed Congress on their recent trip to Iraq. Rice greeted the Japanese Foreign Minister at the State Department, and addressed the Conference on the Americas, also at the State Department.
Laura Bush, in Mississippi, announced half a million dollars in grants to be given through The Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries' Gulf Coast School Library Recovery Initiative.

Laura Bush participates in an interview in Biloxi, Miss., with Steve Hartman of CBS News, and 11 year-old Kelsie Buckley, founder of Kelsies Books, a non-profit foundation which focuses on helping libraries receive money for large print books for low-vision students. Kelsie has raised nearly $79,000 through her efforts to help libraries in the Gulf Coast region devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Bush addresses the press during a meeting with members of Congress in the Cabinet Room.
Bush addresses the American Council of Engineering Companies in DC. "Part of creating a wealth in which -- an environment in which the entrepreneurial spirit is strong is to let people have more of their money; is to unleash the great creative talent of the American people," said the President. "And that's what we did. I worked with Congress to cut the taxes on everybody who pays taxes."
