My dad was a smoker who died at the age of 55 of heart failure with his lunch packed away in the refrigerator for the next day.

One of my "tobacco smoking" uncles died of lung cancer at 65 years old a few years ago. Have you ever been around anyone dying of lung cancer? It's like 18 months of pneumonia. Coughing, bedridden and taking pain medication that causes constipation.
Anyway, I am encouraged that Louisiana is helping the people who smoke tobacco reduce it's use. A lot of people around me that are approaching 60 years old are dying of tobacco use complications.
You know what the cruel part of it is? Just about the time a person is at retirement age, got grandchildren and money in the bank - premature death.
I do wish all the tobacco users the best in life.
Good post.. One of the things is unintended consequences.. If we look back when most women smoked, most women were thin. Now some of those women did die in their 60's of cancer.. and some smoked excessively.
Today some women die fat and unhappy of a heart attack in their 50's. The healthiest and youngest looking woman I know by far for her age is a 52 year old who smokes moderately.
