Me, 2, too! Both are compassionate and lovely (like Mary Cheney) but neither is gay (both nurses). Still, I could love them none the less if they were!
Not when they are gay. There are lots of parents who have turned their backs on their children because of it. Alan Keyes is one. I'd imagine many FReepers would not be nearly as accepting as the Cheneys.

VP Cheney's demeanor and delivery. I know another older guy like that who is the same way. Not a grandstander, not alarmist, but truthful and down to earth. That's the way a good many folks are; folks who endure a good many surprises and struggles as each day passes. But to keep your head while all the rest are losing theirs . . . Kipling had something to say about that.

I don't have a problem acknowledging a parental relationship no matter what. I don't have a problem acknowledging parental love no matter what. But I do have difficulties with the idea of wishing dysfunctional sexual behavior as the basis for happiness.
Sure, I want my children to be happy, but I'm not going to be elated if they choose to seek happiness through--for example--homosexuality, adultery, pedophilia, or promiscuity. I'm a big Cheney fan--I've voted for him four times, twice for VP, and twice for congressman. I'd be happy to see him as our president. However, his attitude being trumpeted here is something less than admirable.
People like Dick Cheney are allright with their daughter's being Lesbian. People like John Kerry are postively THRILLED that Dick Cheney's daughter is a Lesbian--so he can play with it politically this way and that---let's not forget what he did with this info at the last election. It was Classic late-model Liberalism(politicize EVERYTHING , even (and maybe especially) the private), so that, in this particular case. you can IMPLY that the Cheney's have kept all this "volatile" political stuff HIDDEN, because they're "ASHAMED" of it, when in fact they are just casual, and human, about it. Let us never forget what Kerry-Edwards did in this regard. It speaks VOLUMES about the perverse strategies of the Lefties. They disgust me more than ever---bringing up Cheney's daughter and all those old associations reawakens the rancid toxicity that emanantes from every committed Liberal, and the bad smell I had in my nose all during the last Election, thanks to Kerry-Edwards.
