This will be my first, and last, post on FreeRepublic for a very long time.
I am an unabashed Liberal. However, I want to assure the mods that I am not here to do any trolling. In fact, I just wanted to say a few nice words about Freeper John Armor. (aka April 25, 2006 "Congressman Billybob.")
If you live in NC District 11 and are a Republican, please vote for John Armor in this weeks primary race.
As a yellow-dog Democrat, I will never vote for Armor; but he is a man of integrity and will not accept bribes.
My entire "semi-endorsement" letter is here:
http://www.brainshrub.com/taylor-armor-primary
I won't republish the entire thing here because, like I wrote earlier, I don't want to case any flame wars or get "Zotted." I'm just here to plug a man I'd never vote for, but have to admit that he is better than the incumbent.
I understand the rules for this forum, so I won't be posting here again.
Thank you.
From the looks of it so far, the alleged internal polls that allegedly had Schmidt beating McEwen by 2 to 1 were even more worthless than the typical push poll..
Hamilton Precincts Reporting: 55 Of 970 - 5.67% Schmidt, Jean 1,080 McEwen, Bob 930 Kraus, Deborah A. 98 Constable, James E. 67
I had some concerns about Bradley, she never has won a statewide election on her own accord and was a very weak candidate as a stand alone (far too liberal), Taft moved her over as his token Lt Governor to this position. It's unfortunate that we don't have stronger Black GOP candidates to run downballot (aside from Blackwell).
Zack Space is now considerably ahead of Joe Sulzer.
Space, Zachary T. - 10,918 - 37.38%
Sulzer, Joe - 8,507 - 29.12%
Stewart, Jennifer - 6,562 - 22.47%
Applegate, Ralph A. - 3,222 - 11.03%
Er, what race is that one?
They just declared Blackwell the winner.
Thanks for the info.
Getting Blackwell past the primary became the easy part, now the general is going to be uphill, thanks in no small part to Bob Taft.
District 16
Miller, Matt 8,937 52.75%
Regula, Ralph 8,006 47.25%
Total Votes 16,943
Ashland Precincts Reporting: 65 Of 65 - 100% Miller, Matt 4,478 Regula, Ralph 1,005
Medina Precincts Reporting: 0 Of 150 - 0% Regula, Ralph 0 Miller, Matt 0
Stark Precincts Reporting: 54 Of 364 - 14.84% Regula, Ralph 2,423 Miller, Matt 1,275
Wayne Precincts Reporting: 96 Of 97 - 98.97% Regula, Ralph 4,578 Miller, Matt 3,184
Most of the votes will come from Stark, so Regula will win, but it is yet another sign that the natives are restless. I wonder if the media will pick up on all these tea leaves.
I'm willing to bet that this guy will vote for BillyBob in the general election, if BillBob win's the primary, and bitch with his friends if BillyBob wins. Oh well, it is a secret ballot.
Eeek ! If this ends up being close in the end, Regula may decide to hang it up this term. He will have served 36 years by 2008, and 18 terms was the wall that Phil Crane ran into in '04.
Speaking of restless natives, a couple of GOP incumbents in the NC House (including the speaker pro tempore) and one in the NC Senate have been ousted in their primaries.
I'm getting punch-drunk using "end" too many times. :-P
Clermont has swung things toward Jean Schmidt.
Schmidt, Jean - 19,267 - 47.27%
McEwen, Bob - 17,469 - 42.86%
Kraus, Deborah A. - 2,545 - 6.24%
Constable, James E. - 1,476 - 3.62%
So, unless McEwen has a major turnaround in Hamilton Co. that one's going to Schmidt.
That's a wrap. It's over.
Schmidt takes a 1,800 vote lead with 165 out of 200 precincts from Clermont reporting. Most of Hamilton still outstanding.
