Senate Coverage -- (May '06)
Thomas ^ | 5-01-06 | us congress

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Which makes my hair go on fire! Is that the type of people we want in charge of this country?

Listening to some of the voices here on FR lately, we must be afraid..very afraid.

Right. Some red meat for his supporters...left-wingers and other assorted America-haters.

I have calmed down a little bit....but, remember, Kennedy requested 30 MINUTES so.....get ready to get mad all over again.

BUT, if not one Republican Senator gets up to refute this crapola, what do we do???

You only missed the usual stuff. The pubbies use their time to propose legislation while the dems use theirs to blast the president.

Teddy alert!

LOL. I heard that but I didn't even want to mention it. This communications act bill that Stevens is talking about is the kind of thing where horrible things can be done right before your very eyes and you will never know it. Even if you READ the bill, you may not be aware of the damage being done and the pocket picking going on.

Coburn is fantastic. They must just hate him. Unbelievable how the American taxpayer is robbed blind over and over and over.

When Teddy was going on and on about how we need to bring the troops home...

I was thinking about Biden's new brainy idea to break up Iraq into 3 different regions, with their own governments, BUT, then one overarching government over all...

LOL..what a mess!!! I saw LT. Cowan on Fox say that was NOT a good idea (of course he probably couldn't say exactly what he thought)...

Then, Fox shows footage of a brand new class of Iraq soldiers at their "graduation"...but, instead of throwing their hats up in celebration...they started stripping off their uniforms in ANGER...because they were being sent to somewhere other than where they wanted to be stationed....

OH, MY.....this is going to be a lllllllloooooonnnnnngggg war....

BUT, Kennedy, Kerry, Murtha, Feingold..think it would be just dandy, to pull out now...

Thanks Powell Now Reid is using your words to slam the President and Rummy

Like Powell cares. He is just worried about his squeaky-clean stature. This is not a man who shoots from the hip but rather shoots to CHA (aka CYA)

Kennedy wants to give that money (as best as I could understand him)...to groups that would help with the setting up of democracy...

IOW..the same kinds of groups that have gotten BILLIONS in the last few decades to help the Palestinians...but never made it out of Arafat's pockets..and then, after Arafat died, and the Israelis pulled out of Gaza, these same groups were supposed to help the Palestinians set up their local govt. in the Gaza Strip...

but, instead the money went for munitions...NOT to the people.

IOW, again----these are very corruptible groups that we should NEVER give tax dollars to.

I didn't hear Durbin. defconw lured me over to Cavuto, but I missed whatever was riling her up. Now I'm listening to this poor Fox reporter trying to speak over the rude chanting, in Spanish of course. My response to "Si, se puede" is get the he#@ out.
