New Movie Called 'Soft Core Eco-terrorism' for Kids
CNS News ^ | May 1, 2006 | Marc Morano

Three middle school children band together, sabotage a construction site, gag a land developer and take him hostage. But their criminal conduct, aimed at saving the habitat of burrowing owls from "greedy land developers" isn't reality-based.

It's the subject of a new movie that one entertainment reviewer labels "soft core eco-terrorism" for kids.

The movie, "Hoot," opens Friday May 5. It features environmentally conscious teenage characters vandalizing heavy machinery by stealing parts off of them and flattening tires in order to hinder a development project.

What is this? A remake of "Earnest Goes to Camp?" Are there _any_ original storylines out there any more?

Kidnapping and false imprisonment and assault are 'soft core'?

To hell with hollyweird and the MSM. Maybe real Americans should get 'soft-core' with some of those egotistical, self-righteous jackasses in hollyweird.

Let me guess, none of the kids are arrested or go to Juvenile Hall for vandalism.

As soon as we saw the trailer to this movie, my husband and I looked at each other and said "environmental whacko film". This is one movie we are going to skip.

When can I expect a movie about private property owners exercising their rights to defend against ecoterrorists?

Never? OK.

Let me guess, we never see the posters of their idol, the Unabomber, on their bedroom walls.

I think this country has a long and glorious history of civil disobedience. Without it, there would be no United States. How far do you go for a cause?

What an ignorant fool. The US was not created by civil disobedience; it was created because the common man was willing to pick up a rifle and fight a life and death battle against the most powerful military on the earth.

Yeah, I saw the trailer for this at some other children's movie I took my youngest two kids to see.

It's the usual story: Business is evil, law enforcement officers are the (stupid, incompetent) stooges of the evil businessman, it's OK to commit crimes if you're on the "right" side etc.

I have to admit I was chuckling (much to the annoyance of the family in front of us) during this trailer. It was such heavy-handed propaganda.

It's based on a Carl Hiaasen novel. If you read enough of them you realize that behavior like this is common in his books.

I have never gotten the impression that Hiaasen was totally anti-development, just anti-OVER-development.

It all comes from being in South Florida. Their ALL crazy!

They are advertising on the local Christian radio station a lot. I am not sure whether they are just targetting a family audience, or if something more subversive is going on.

By subversive, I mean, I am concerned that the newly identified "Christian" film productions are being taken over by leftist whackos. What began my concern is the report a month ago that many evangelical churches are signing on to some environmentalist whacko manifesto.

It could be worse, it could be a remake of the Ernest Halloween movie. Actually, it sounds more like a remake of one called "Bless The Beasts and The Children",which was a giant POS

The new movie coming out in a week or two about the animals fighting to survive in a new Australian suburb seems closer to true "soft core animal rights" than what is described in "hoot'.
