My son cannot get a job on a farm, landscaping or any type of work like this around here.

Up my way .. I've noticed the kids are not very reliable and that is way many don't hire them

Another thing I noticed is .. alot of folks just like to keep up with the Jones and follow what others do

I had a kid in my neighborhood a few years back cut my front lawn .. even though I could do it myself and save money

I did it because he was a good kid and was trying to make some many for the summer

No, but I suspect it dealt with the way Clinton/Gore politicized the INS to speed thru pro-Clinton Hispanics for citizenship for the '96 election. Doris Meisnner (the former INS head) was really the culprit and screwing up the system.

That is true also. Too many parents indulge their kids. My son wants to make money. People don't even hire kids for lawns here anymore. They don't need to now. It's frustrating for him. He will work but he would rather be outside doing labor than at a cashier.

There are places here the illegals gather in the morning and wait for people to come and hire them for the day.

This is where Krauthammer goes off the rails for me on this gasoline issue. There are issues on which he firmly believes in social engineering. Gun control is another one, I believe.

Has your son thought of going into business for himself? He could mow lawns....a very desirable service. I wish he were here to mow my 4+ acres!

MO1, those parents who buy their kids cars are well-meaning and affluent, but imo not helpful.

In my former life as a teacher, I saw such students neglect their studies in favor of driving around having fun. When their grades went down, down, down, the parents came rushing to the school wondering why THEIR child was not making A's.
