AL Gore bumped into Avenue magazine editorial director Pamela Gross the other day at the Regency, where she told him his daughter will be on the May cover. Karenna told Avenue that during the Florida recount in 2000, "the rancor was overwhelming at times . . . There was this horrible mob outside the vice president's house that was recruited by political operatives. They just kept yelling, 'Get out of [Dick] Cheney's house.' That was really painful and rude."

[Silverback digs down deep in himself to muster all the class he can] Hi, Karenna. Feel free to bite my hairy toches, you pathetic whiner.
Painful and rude indeed. Talk about a puny imagination.

This is what happens when you try to subvert the democratic process. People get PO'd when you try to steal elections. Sorry honey!

Wonderful! I remember being in absolute glee over how shocked and indignant the dems were over us using their own street theater, rabble-rousing tactics against them.
I only regret that the republicans forgot the effectiveness of these tactics the moment the election crisis was over.

I was one of those Freepers outside Gore's residence on the Naval Observatory grounds.
We were outside the fence of course, but believe me...they heard us chanting "Get out of Cheney's House!"

Political operatives? LOL. If she means folks that didn't want Gore as President she's right. Those were heady days indeed. It was the first time i can remember conservatives actually out in the streets getting their message out. I think it took the lefties by surprise that we would actually use the freedoms they thought were exclusively reserved for themselves. Poor deluded 60's holdovers. Oh and Karenna, tell paterfamilia manbearpig thank you for this internet thingy. It's worked out really well ;o)

was recruited by political operatives. What really pisses me off is that during the election 2000 debacle I never got my check. :-)

When SCOTUS reached its decision, I was in my car listening to KABC. This is one of the funniest things I ever remember on radio. Gore conceded and announced his Christmas party. He said something equivalent to -- for all my friends who can't remember the right house, go down to the end of the block where people are chanting "Get out of Cheney's house."
