Web-posted Apr. 29, 12:40: PM Rally to advocate positive immigration reform By Pablo Candia Dodge City Daily Globe

Dodge City’s Latino community will participate in a two-day event Sunday and Monday to advocate positive immigration reform and defend immigrant worker rights.

The first part of the event has been named "A Day of Unity" and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday, and "A Day of Action” will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. The Regional Latino Affairs Council of Southwest Kansas will promote these activities in Wright Park.

Organizers said they want to have a positive movement without attitudes that might be interpreted as confrontational.

"Sunday, April 30, will provide an opportunity for us to unite without having to worry about how it will affect our jobs, our paychecks, or our children’s education,” said a press release from the council. “We want to show our actions are aimed at legislators and not our people, community, businesses, school system or local economy.”

On Sunday, participants in the Wright Park event will receive updated information on the immigration reform bill that is being debated in the U.S. Senate. Also they will receive educational information on how the process to get citizenship works and how to participate more in the community.

A history of immigrants and three testimonials from Latinos in the process of legalization will also be offered. Two musical groups, "Decision" and "Diferencia," will contribute to celebrate the event.

Monday’s “Day of Action” is intended to encourage Latino immigrants to become more involved with the community by doing volunteer work.

Organizers said they are encouraging Latinos to go to work and send their children to school on Monday under the slogan "Positive action for positive change." They said Monday’s activities will be mostly for those Latino workers who have permission of their employers to take Monday off. Cargill Meat Solutions and National Beef will both close for Monday’s rally.

The activity will start with a tree dedication in Wright Park to symbolize that Latino immigrants also have their roots in southwest Kansas. Afterwards, the participants will be organized into groups to do volunteer work at parks, hospital, nursing homes and help the elderly, schools and the local Mexican American Ministries office. Organizers are encouraging Latino immigrants to wear white shirts during the events and carry American flags to show peace and unity, and to let others know they are also part of America.

The two-day activities, organizers said, are not exclusively for Latino immigrants, and the whole community is invited. Participants are encouraged to take lunches with them for Monday’s activity.

According to the organizers, CBS Evening News staff phoned them to indicate an interest in coming to Dodge City to cover the events.

You know, I hear all of the time that the issue of illegal aliens is not high on the list of priorities for Americans, but I beg to differ. It seems to me that the MSM and the politicians want to say that we're not really concerned. When you get online, read comments in your local paper, or listen to talk radio, Americans are very upset and want to take action. My husband is from Kansas- Mead, Kansas, and his sister told him that many folks from one area are sending their kids to schools in another area because of the influx of illegals and their children.

I was a lead singer for a rock'n'roll band in the '90's and I used to perform at the Cavanaughs in Yakima. The surrounding neightborhood was primalrily black but you could see the illegals moving in. Wasn't a good neighborhood at all, balck or hispanic. Around the time that the illegals were moving in, violence was increasing and my band stopped playing at that club. I remember shopping at the store across the street from the hotel and commenting to the clerk about the rancid smell. My goodness, I told him that he probably wanted to throw a bar of soap at the people who came through his line. He agreed.

The difference between Bush and Kerry is shrinking more and more every day.

Kerry would have GIVEN American away. Bush is selling it off for campaign donations and votes he HOPES the Repubs get out of the Latino community.

We have the same things happening here in s/w missouri, courtesy of Don Tyson. My wife works at one of their facilities. A large portion of our county also works at a facility they have in Noel Missouri. Illegals have turned Noel Missouri into Little Tijuana. It is a crying shame.. that town had such unbelievable potential to be a major tourist attraction, but is now a cesspool.
Thanks to illegal aliens, the median household income in my county is half the national average... and our taxes are headed thru the roof paying for new jails and schools. They even recently moved our welfare office in the county to Noel from Anderson.. for one reason only.. suddenly since the influx of illegals into Noel.. 95% of the counties welfare and WIC recipients live in Noel.

My wife has cross trained in every department they have.. worked for them for 9 years... had TOP notch performance reviews consistently her entire time there... and had the best attendance record in the facility for 5 straight years. 15 years ago, she would have been promoted up the food chain at least twice. With new policies, she never will get a promotion (nor any further wage increase), and niether will her boss, or her bosses boss... unless they learn spanish. I kid ya not, that is official Tysons policy at least at that facility.

Only doing jobs Americans will not do huh? Believe it or not, there are some jobs we are doing that even Mexicans will turn their noses up at. A good friend of mine works at Tysons cleaning out gut trucks after they dump at the protien plant. This is unbelievably nasty.. wading thru rotting chicken parts, manure, etc. You can smell one of these trucks, and it will make you puke, 200 feet away. That seems to be the only job crew at their facilities on which there are no mexicans. They simply refuse to do the job, and as such it is one of the best paying jobs in the plant.. a whole $7.25 an hour. The American boys who are doing it do so because they simply have no other choice. They can no longer get any of the many landscaping or construction jobs, in Bella Vista Ark, that used to feed a few hundred American families in our county. Nowadays, unless a skilled sheetrocker, framer, or stonemason will work for about $7.50 an hour.. they will hire a mexican instead.

I grew up in Cimarron Ks.. 16 miles west of Dodge. I always kinda liked Dodge City, it used to be a pretty nice town. It is a shame to hear it has gone downhill in this manner.

The open borders/illegal alien lovers are making stupendous fools of themselves, showing their ignorance, brazenly demanding that we bow to THEIR DEMANDS.

They must think our immigration laws don't exist, thanks to George W. Bush and his band of traitors in Washington.

Any politician falling for this crap will lose votes faster than they will be able to count. America is ANGRY!!

From an internet source:

"Dodge City, Kansas, population 21,000 in 1990, was profiled on January 29,1998 in the New York Times as a city in which local youth move away and Mexican and other Latino immigrants arrive to fill jobs in meatpacking plants. Hispanics are 75 percent of the work force at Dodge City's two largest meatpackers: Excel Corp., part of Cargill Foods, with about 2,500 workers; and National Beef Co., part of Farmland Industries Inc., with 1,300 to 1,400 workers. Hispanics are a similar percentage of the work force in meatpacking plants in Garden City, 50 miles to the northwest of Dodge City, and Liberal, 75 miles to the southwest.

"The Excel human resources manager, Jim Maher, said that Excel recruits via its current employees: they tell their relatives about available jobs. Starting pay is $8.64 an hour, rising to $12. Annual turnover is 50 percent, meaning that Excel issues over 5,000 W-2 statements each year to maintain a 2,500-person labor force." [End excerpt]

This just in! 30 April, 2006. Cargill Inc., which produces Honeysuckle White turkeys, will close 10 beef, pork and turkey plants, including the Springdale turkey plant, spokesman Mark Klein said. [End bulletin]

You are exactly right. There is no money of the side of the majority of U.S. citizens who want to stop illegal immigration.

Four years ago, I ran for congress in a Tennessee primary on a platform to "Stop Illegal Immigration." I was a working man who quit a good job to campaign full-time because I saw my country in serious danger from uncontrolled borders.

Among the thousands of "concerned citizens" I met and talked to across thirteen counties for four months were few offers of financial help with my campaign.

Meanwhile, employers kept hiring illegals and using their financial clout to undermine America's sovereignty by pressuring the same cowardly politicians to overlook the blatant lawlessness. Everyone keeps re-electing the same politicians who have been selling them out.

"Good Americans" have to throw traitors out of office to change legislative behavior. That isn't happening therefore "good Americans" have exactly what they deserve.

Americans have abdicated their civic responsibilities by failing to take the time required of them to influence their governance. Americans are too preoccupied with their daily lives to take the time to care about the future of their own country. Citizenship is everyone's job. It's NOT just the job of "others who have more time than I do."

I find it so ironic how people never have any time to get involved before they literally have to drop everything in their lives to take up arms to save their country.

Politics becomes pure evil in a vacuum of responsibile citizenship. The worst possible things happen when good people do nothing.

I worked very hard night and day to make a difference and I sleep well at night knowing I did the best I could to spread the word.

I get no satisfaction today in saying, "I told you so."

Most Americans knew this was coming and only now are becoming energized AFTER the flood of illegals has gotten out of control.

Where was the anger and responsible, active American citizenship when it might have made a difference?

One thing that shocked me down in Carson, California

Spoke to a teacher from Carson the other day - he mentioned that they are getting a lot of black transfers from Wilmington across town (both are high schools are in the infamous LA unified district).

Seems that the 'undocumented students' in Wilmington are openly racist and driving blacks out via direct threats - they're transferring to Carson under what is referred to as a "protective transfer"...

The plant was understaffed but couldn't hire any more because the town was at it's effective carrying-capacity of immigrants

If they were "immigrants", then what's the problem? Oh, you meant "ILLEGAL IMMMIGRANTS". Please, state exactly what they are, there's enough lies and misnomers from the msm.

Spoke to a teacher from Carson the other day - he mentioned that they are getting a lot of black transfers from Wilmington across town (both are high schools are in the infamous LA unified district).

Banning High School and Carson High, by any chance?

Seems that the 'undocumented students' in Wilmington are openly racist and driving blacks out via direct threats - they're transferring to Carson under what is referred to as a "protective transfer"...

Things should get interesting here today as the little scholars from Banning stage another one of their "rallies."

As an advocate for tourism here in the harbor area of El Lay, I present the following:

To outsiders, little distinguishes the east side of Wilmington from the west.

On one side of Avalon are Mexican restaurants, pupuserias and strip malls.

On the other side of Avalon, more Mexican restaurants, pupuserias and strip malls.

On the east side of town, large families crowd small, colorful houses.

On the west side, it's much the same.

Wilmington has long served as an entry place for Latino immigrants [illegal aliens from Mexico].

A Los Angeles judge issued a permanent injunction against the Eastside and Westside Wilmas, two Wilmington [Mexican] street gangs, for terrorizing residents, and committing murders and violent robberies in recent years. In 2000, 88% of homicides in Wilmington were attributed to the Eastside and Westside Wilmas.

The Wilmas accumulate much of their income from robberies and the sale of drugs, members are linked to murders, robberies, felony assaults, graffiti and auto thefts, according [to] the injunction documents... The gang members are also known to rob juveniles on their way to school and use juveniles to solicit the sale of drugs.
