Investors Fleeing GOP
Investors at all income levels are increasingly turning away from the Republican Party, endangering the GOP's hold on power.
According to pollsters, 35 percent of voters belong to the "investor class," which includes not only wealthy individuals but also union members, mutual fund holders and a growing number of minority-group Americans.
They comprise a group that helped put Republicans in power "but now seems restless," Business Week reports.
President Bush got the votes of 61 percent of investors in 2004, but now only 43 percent give him a favorable job approval rating, according to a recent Zogby International poll.
"Investors' complaints include the administration's handling of Hurricane Katrina and the Dubai Ports deal, the management of the Iraq war, the $8.2 trillion national debt, soaring gasoline prices and immigration policy," according to Business Week.
Even Wall Street appears to be turning away from the GOP. As NewsMax has reported, last year Democrats beat Republicans in raising political donations from the financial industry, the first time the party outdid Republicans since 1994.
Investors' dissatisfaction could result in defections from the GOP in numbers sufficient to have a seriously detrimental effect on Republican candidates in the 2006 midterm elections.
But while investors appear alienated from the GOP, they remain skeptical that Democrats would do any better on economic issues, Business Week notes.
Bruce Bagley, a small-business owner in California, told the magazine that if Democrats were to take over Congress, investors would have a "bull's-eye" on their back.

by all means send that campaign money
No, when the Republicans notice that the money is not coming in like it should be they will possibly take notice where they are going wrong, will correct the problems, and then the money will start coming in again.

Business Week = demonrat media (along with Money, Fortune etc.). Forbes Magazine is not demonratic. WSJ is basically non-demonrat in meat and potatoes articles, but lots of demonrats under cover in editorial department.

Bush support is down to those who want Bush to make money for them and those who want Bush to conquer all the Muslims. If either of these fade away, Bush will be at the Alamo with those who think he is on a mission from God, those who think he is God and Texans. And there is probably a lot of overlap there. Bolten and Snow better have some life savers handy for GOP candidates who might also try to swim away.

cut off your nose to spite your face?I don't accept the premise of your statement. Clearly, the GOP is incompetent. The only way to get competent people is office is to remove them. Why do you think anything will change by keeping the same bozos in power?

I don't believe it. I believe we have gotten to the point where conservatives no longer care what party groupies think. The GOPers have decided to run the socialist government scam in our republic.

"NewsMax is a reputable conservative magazine."
NewsMax hyper-ventilates way too often to be considered a reputable source for conservatives. Probably has another nuclear suitcase bomb story for tomorrow.

"I'm an investor, and I've never done anywhere near this well in my entire life."
Well, during the late '99 - early '00 you as an investor probably were doing better, but your main drift is correct. If sustainable, these are decent times for the investors.

I believe you but I suspect the usual crowd will come out to call you a troll and a DUmmy and other things that they prefer to believe. They could be right but I know first hand they could be wrong as well. Almost everyone I know are long term GOP voters and over half are boiling mad at the GOP. They will not be voting Democrat but will they go out to vote at all, will they vote 3rd party, or pinch their nose and vote GOP after all is the question. More than a few voted 3rd party last Pres election than is comforting.
So in honor of all the responders to your post let us here a word from their sponsor.

Actually, I do. For congress it will be John Mica vs a Dem and Senate will be Nelson vs Harris (unless she gets a clue and drops out). I won't be voting for Mica and I won't be voting for Harris.
