PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's Church this morning, as is their custom when spending the weekend at the White House. Last night they attended the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where the President and his "alter ego," comedian Steve Bridges, stole the show.
The best review I found is on USA Today's website. Since I'm not sure how much of their material we can excerpt, I'll just provide a link. The article includes a nearly complete transcript of the President's and Mrs. Bridges routine.

Anything else is going to be anti-climatic, but last night's was just downright disgusting.I totally agree with everything you posted.

Probably already been asked, but did Steve Bridges us the word 'nuculer'?Yeah, he did. The real President and his alter ego played by Bridges did a funny bit about nuclear vs. nucular.

I LOVE this face!So do I. It's a great photo and I love that the humor is in his eyes as well as in his big smile.

...ourse, all their money is tied up in Foundations, and the Gates family hires family and friends for their Foundation. This is an extremely common tax avoidance scheme by the wealthy, and it's something we "little people" can't really avail ourselves of due to relatively modest income and estates.

No problem .. I had already seen colbert's performance - which I found terribly dull. The President's skit was waaaaaaay funnier.

I read that Dubya developed his sense of humor as a child when he always tried to cheer up his saddened mother after his little sister died.
Even as a child he was so sweet and thoughtful. God Bless him.
I also saw him mouth the words, "she's hot".
Our president is so cool... and HOT himself!

Figures. I see I misspelled it myself. I have such a difficult time with mispronounced words.

That looks like Jamie McCourt with Tommy. She's the co-owner of the Dodgers with husband Frank McCourt.

The no-feet look is disconcerting. Was Fred Thompson bringing a puppet to the dinner?

Even RASMUSSEN has moved to the 'dark side' (of polling). Like Gallup last year, he has decided to 'adjust' his weighting formula to advantage Democrats.

Prepositioning to be able to reflect the results that actually occur next November after all the non-franchised "voters" have their opportunity with a ballot.

Gates and Heinz use their fortunes to promote an agenda that is antithetical to the values of real America.
Yes, Gates worked for his money, but his efforts cannot touch the hard work of our local farmers or small businessmen.

Probably one of the neanderthals who called the First Lady vulgar, horrid names last year.
And in the name of 'dignity' as well. These guys are so transparent that it's not even funny.
I think you're right about the anonymity of the Internet. If you have no moral compass that guides you to behave the same way in anonymity, that you behave in 'real life,' (in other words, realize that GOD sees what you are doing, even if no one else knows who you are)......then you are apt to say awful things on a forum like this that you would never say to someone you knew.
Another factor, I think, is alcohol. Some of these very mean posters have different personas during the day than they do at night. Last year there was a thread on Laura where a group of thugs were saying such vile things about Laura that I wanted to scream. I'd bet that most of them were drunk. Just a guess........

Thank you for your kind wishes. I printed the picture and Dubya is going be here on my desk along with the picture of him standing on the mound at Yankee Stadium.......
Those two pictures say it all. A man of immense courage serving humanity.
