PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's Church this morning, as is their custom when spending the weekend at the White House. Last night they attended the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where the President and his "alter ego," comedian Steve Bridges, stole the show.
The best review I found is on USA Today's website. Since I'm not sure how much of their material we can excerpt, I'll just provide a link. The article includes a nearly complete transcript of the President's and Mrs. Bridges routine.

HA! Beat me! Here's Stephen Colbert. I watched one minute and got bored, so I have no idea what it's like.

I think it was on about 2 pm PT
exactly. Colbert was not at all funny. He was obnoxious, which, I presume he intended to be. But, I suspect, he thought he'd be funny too. Newsflash, to Mr.Colbert, you bombed.
Once again, our President shows he has class while those with no class make fools of themselves.
Is that Steve Doocey (Fox & Friends) with Rep. Jane Harmon?
She looks really thin in that picture too. I guess I should start working out...
Pres. Bush kept them laughing, spontaneously and often - Colbert did NOT keep even the lib crowd laughing - except lowly and rather taken aback - as if they thought it was supposed to be funny and therefore they should be laughing - but they were confused as to WHEN to laugh, since there was nothing funny about it
Clobert was:
1. despicable
or 2. vicious
or 3. Not in the least funny
or 4. Way beyond the pale
or 5. All of the above.
'the ambulance for Colber's career'
ROFL. He sure bombed!
Rep. Roy Blunt
Wife: Roseann Ray (m. 1967, div. 2002, 3 children) Wife: Abigail Perlman (Philip Morris lobbyist, m. 18-Oct-2003) Son: Matt Blunt (Governor of Missouri)
(I'd like to know to know how many congresscritters + senators are involved with lobbyists)

Actress Kelly Carlson arrives for a party at the Macedonian Embassy in Washington following The White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, April 29, 2006.

CELEBRATING HIS BIRTHDAY!
The nightgown look is so passe
My travel companion & I left DC/Hilton right after the president's "act".. I caught a little of the next act as we were saying our goodbyes to DC friends.. but it was sorry. The president was just so funny.
Did Colbert get much applause?
Would love to archive that --NOT COLBERT
Again, my pathetic attempt at humor falls flat.
Just like the guy last nite!
I love Fred but that girl looks like his wayward daughter instead of a wife.
Oh, well. Men!
Thanks. I watched it there and got to see the funny part while spared the embarrassing MC's nasty attempts at humor.
Tiki Barber is a stand in at time for FOX & Friends, does a good job.
CSPAN is reshowing the dinner NOW. But they're starting with the arrivals, etc. so it may be a while before they get to President Bush's speech.
Hello - thanks for the dose
