Press Release Source: Rush Limbaugh Reports Stating Rush Limbaugh Was Arrested Are Inaccurate; Limbaugh's Attorney Holds Press Conference at 8:00 pm Tonight
Friday April 28, 7:55 pm ET
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- A spokesman for Rush Limbaugh said some news reports that state Mr. Limbaugh was arrested are inaccurate.Separately, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black will hold a press conference at 8:00 pm this evening at the Marriott Hotel at 1001 Okeechobbee Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mr. Black will discuss the agreement reached today with the State Attorney's Office whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping that was filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months.
As previously announced, a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.
Mr. Black stated, "Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.
"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during the 18 month period, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won," he said.

Priceless. Rush getting to nail the media on this Monday goes a long way at making up for his ordeal.
Priceless. Rush getting to nail the media on this Monday goes a long way at making up for his ordeal.
I don't recall that I said it was. Hence my question what would the Bush's pardon him from?
Addiction is a terrible thing though and ruins lives. Hence any means to get a person to get help is a good thing. IMO
Same old crap. Media people reporting what they wish were true.
What that means is that he can move to expunge his criminal record in 18 months. That may be meaningful to those not in the public eye, who could effectively purge any permanent arrest record and then successfully (and legally) deny ever having been arrested, but here, the fact of the arrest is permanently public. So it can never be truly expunged.
Me, I could care if Rush spends his time popping hillbilly heroin like shelled pistachios, as long as he stays put while doing it and isn't climbing in his car and running over my kids.
Unfortunately, his hypocrisy smells to high heaven. He would have been (and often was) the first to decry such a libertarian position on drugs.
Frankly, any negative fallout he gets on this is well-deserved. Maybe now he'll really see the light on what it means to get the government off your back.
Don't kid yourself -- he was arrested, and he's copping a plea.
Payed bail... huh. For what? Government administration fees? The DA's next Christmas party?. There's no flight risk here, not that Rush [LOL!] would run because there will be no trial.
The dumbass prosecutor should be prosecuted for malfeasance.
You can think what you like. I worked for a criminal defense attorney and worked with the police and the District Attorney's Office and have great familiarity with criminal law. On this particular matter, however, prior to posting, I read the statements call a friend who is a sheriff and read them to him. According to this police officer, if what the statements in this article state are factual and true, Rush was arrested.
I have been informed years ago that any time someone has had a warrant issued, had a mugshot taken, fingerprints taken, and/or bond set, they are arrested, regardless if voluntarily appearing at the police station after the warrant is issued and regardless if placed in jail.
I personally know many people who have been "arrested" after voluntarily going to the police station and, aside from the charge, everything was EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT HAPPENED WITH RUSH: booked, fingerprints, mugshot, and let go on their own recognizance. They were "arrested" and the judge later issued an order that would dismiss the charge on an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal (ACD).
In Legal Deal, Limbaugh Surrenders in Drug Case
Rush Limbaugh, the conservative talk-radio host, was charged yesterday with prescription drug fraud and turned himself into Florida authorities as part of a deal to resolve a lengthy inquiry into whether he improperly obtained painkillers...
They don't call it the Slimes for nothing. Limbaugh's case is now effectively over, and he will not go to jail. That is the real news, not that he "surrendered." How typically vile of the Times to run that headline.
I will never watch her show again.
He had to buy his way onto the Los Angeles airwaves when he started up (literally pay for the airtime, versus making the bucks)...from what I understand that's pretty unheard of. "Vanity Radio"...
What am I missing? How can you charge someone, allow them to plead not guilty and then not pursue the case?
Because this DA had a very weak case. A face saving deal.
There are new non-narcotic and very effective chemicals that are as effective. I was lucky. Somebody told me I was I was doing things incorrectly. Now I do things correctly. Only use opiates to kill the immediate onset of pain. Don't get trapped into abuse you don't even know is happening to you.
LOL..............It is good to see Baghdad Bob back...I have really missed him....
The legal system is a crazy thing.
Judges issue adjournments in contemplation of dismissal (ACD's) all the time. If someone doesn't follow that order, they will be re-arrested and then the first charge will be re-entered, usually along with the second charge (whatever crime they committed to cause the second arrest...usually for not obeying whatever was in the ACD order).
What a yoke!
From a bunch of bad eggs too!

A case for libel?
I think it's obvious it was politically motivated. I think Ron Earle's is also of Delay (but I haven't kept up with that lately to know what new "dirt" Earle's supposedly brought up since I read the initial charges...which were, imho, ridiculous).
