HOLLYWOOD legend Elizabeth Taylor is reportedly on
the brink of death after her heart began to fail.
The Oscar winner, 74, is believed to be bedridden in her Bel Air, California, home. Taylor reportedly cancelled her annual Easter party to plan her funeral.
She is expected to be buried next to former husband Richard Burton in Switzerland.
"Liz is inching closer to death every day and she knows it," a friend said.
The actress was diagnosed with a disease known as congestive heart failure, a terminal condition where the heart weakens, pumping ever-decreasing amounts of blood through the body. Taylor has been confined to a wheelchair since 2004, having broken her back five times.
Advertisement: Taylor has been near death with pneumonia twice, endured a brain tumour removal, has had skin cancer and has been a recluse since her health started failing. "She's not leaving a lot of money to her children. She wants the bulk of her fortune to go to AIDS research."
The actress said she was at her happiest while with husbands Mike Todd and Richard Burton, and in recent months mourned the loss of her pet Maltese terrier, Sugar, of whom she said: "I've never loved a dog like this in my life. It's amazing. Sometimes I think there's a person in there."
Ms Taylor won her first Oscar in 1961 for the film Butterfield 8, following this up with another in 1967 for Mike Nichols' drama Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, often considered her best screen performance.
That's a good pic --- professional make up, soft camera lens and perfect lighting.
Dunno, I'm just an instant expert from reading the story:
"...She is expected to be buried next to former husband Richard Burton in Switzerland. ..."

Ah, I got Fortensky's name right! Lucky guess.
I thought she converted to Judaism when she married Eddie Fisher.
Wife #1 (Cybil) hated Liz; wife #3 let Liz attend Burton's funeral. Maybe wife#3 has remarried and gave her plot to Liz?
opening scenes of butterfield 8.........
I was thinking about Cybil, you're right.
Thanks.
RICHARD BURTON's final resting place is still causing friction between those who loved him most - 20 years after his death.
The Welsh OSCAR-winner's body currently resides in Celigny, Switzerland, the Alpine retreat where he died in 1984. He was laid to rest there by his last wife SALLY BURTON in a move which still angers his family and former wife DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR.
CLEOPATRA actress Taylor, who was married to Burton on two separate occasions, wants to have Burton's body exhumed and re-buried in a plot in Pontrhydyfen, Wales, which the couple purchased during their first marriage. Burton's parents are buried in the same cemetery.
Burton's niece, actress SIAN OWEN, says, "The plots are still there and if Liz wants to rest there then she can. We would love to see his remains brought home to Pontrhydyfen.
"But Sally has overall control of the body, not us. He told me it was where he wanted to be buried." In a further jibe aimed at Sally, Owen says of Taylor, "She was always the love of his life. Even when he was married to other women he phoned her every day without fail."

My rather compulsive mother-in-law's been planning her death for probably 30 years. Her laywer must love her, as she revises her will monthly. She's got it all worked, burial and all.
BUMP
Such a fancy headstone for the man who bought the world's largest diamond for Liz! My, my. Off to Wales with them both!
I found Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf an absolute hoot--"What a dump." Burton Chamberlain Dennis but she carried it.
She has done nothing half-way and hasn't anything of the truly hateful Hollywood in her, a la the George Clooney-tune bad taste attack on one's betters.
She might of course decide to continue living but the chf gives her the option to leave the stage.
I remember a story from early in her career, around the time she was 16 or 17. She didn't know how to swim, and she had a role coming that required her to do so. So, the studio brought in Esther Williams (the famous 'swimming actress') to teach her how. She took one look at young Ms. Taylor's chest, and said "With pontoons like those, you oughta be able to float!"
The most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Oops, my wife has some incredible eyes.......... Scarlet's in 'Gone With The Wind'.
# 157 is beautiful............... (jmo)
Very nice gate.
