She was astoundingly beautiful in her youth--National Velvet being the start of a beautiful friendship with the camera.

I found Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf an absolute hoot--"What a dump." Burton Chamberlain Dennis but she carried it.

She has done nothing half-way and hasn't anything of the truly hateful Hollywood in her, a la the George Clooney-tune bad taste attack on one's betters.

She might of course decide to continue living but the chf gives her the option to leave the stage.

I remember a story from early in her career, around the time she was 16 or 17. She didn't know how to swim, and she had a role coming that required her to do so. So, the studio brought in Esther Williams (the famous 'swimming actress') to teach her how. She took one look at young Ms. Taylor's chest, and said "With pontoons like those, you oughta be able to float!"

Actually Burton, George Segal, and Sandy Dennis. Liz was great, but Burton was robbed of an Oscar. He was magnificent in that film.

She truly was, and she managed to age with grace. It is very hard for a woman with beauty like that to grow old!

At least she didn't go the way of plastic surgery until you no longer recognized her.
