Georgia’s And Ukraine’s Affiliation To NATO Will Make Russia Increase Military Expenditures

Tbilisi. April 27 (Prime-News) – Further expansion of NATO and affiliation of Georgia and the Ukraine will make Russia increase its military expenditures, Mikhail Kamynin, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia says.

Russia has questions to NATO with regard to possible deployment of military bases in its new member states, in particular in Romania and Bulgaria, Mikhail Kamynin was quoted as saying by RIA Novotsi.

"We hope that the alliance will observe its political and legal commitments in terms of military restraint when deciding on the deployment of the bases, and in particular the commitment not to deploy considerable combat forces in new member states," Kamynin said.

According to him, the urgent problem in Russian-NATO relations is ratification of the adopted agreement on conventional armament in the Europe.

Mikhail Kamynin claimed that the agreement, which is in fact already in force, had stopped corresponding to present-day European reality.

I think it's good that we develop close ties with Eastern Europe. I'm just not convinced that NATO is the way to do it.

NATO was formed to oppose the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union is no more, however. The job is finished. I think we should close the book on NATO and reform a new alliance with Eastern Europe that will be more based on the current realities we face.

There is an interesting story to add on. NATO is seeking a role of Asian and Oceanian countries, such as Japan and Australia to join. If Ukraine will join NATO as well, Russia will be surrounded on the west (Ukraine) and east (Japan). When Georgia joins, it will surround Russia from the south, and US on the north. Meanwhile, the NATO might surround the CSTO and SCO countries. Let's hope Afghanistan will join, and Central Asian countries to follow after democracy to spread to all around their boders.

I have nothing against new alliance. But I don’t know wherever you are aware of the current realities that these Eastern European countries face. For example such Georgia? Such alliance would need to benefit both sides not just US.

Maybe you're right. I can see where the former soviet states could legitimately fear an increasingly powerful and autocratic Russia.

Ukraine is still a wild card. We need to get at least 80% agreement from the Ukranian people before we proceed with intergrating them with NATO, or else there could be political ramifications for the alliance.

I understand your point but I think that if Ukraine would be in most of them would figure out the true nature of NATO not polluted by Soviet/Russian propaganda.

Sounds almost like the new UN :) Japan would be OK but Afghanistan cannot be trusted at all. They are corrupted like hell and I have serious doubts wherever their goverment really controls whole country. Beside the have Sharia law if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah as they said many times before but we didn't listen. NATO wants to surround Russia:(.
Definetely Russia needs to increase her military spendings and produce more formidable weapons then now.

Remember "Kuzkina" mother - 100MTonns the "country buster" bomb? One bomb which is enought to desproy and devastate whole country. It will make NATO rudicilous. Why you need to surround Russia if Russia just may use one "country buster" per NATO country?:).

If Russia wasn't so hostile to the nations formerly joined involuntarily to Russia in the Soviet Union, then maybe they would not want to join a defensive alliance aimed at preventing Russia's aggression. If Russia doesn't want NATO in the Caucasus, then maybe they should stop their criminal occupation of Georgian territory and cease their support for ethnic separatist narco-terrorists guilty of the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Christian Georgians in Abkhazia, a crime carried out by the animal Basayev himself.

Maybe you are thinking about the 58 megaton bomb that was detonated on October 30 1961 over Novaya Zemlya?

Yeah this one the "country buster". But accually thier yeild was artificially decreased twice for test. Its full yield is 100M+. This bomb was produced 40+ years ago probably quite few devices. Such bomb make whole NATO rudiciluous isn't it right?

No, this type (and other big) bombs are useless, that is why they are not produced anymore.

Abkhasians ia partly christian but Georgian is partly muslim. Didn't you know that?

By the way that war which turned so unfortunatley for Georgians, Georgians began themselves! Didn't you know that too? As result they got what deserved for starting that war.

You ready to forget all Georgian crimes and put all the guilt of thier opponents. Absolutely unjust. Georgians was who were invaders but Abkahsians who was invaded.

Secondly, the Abkhasian land was joined to Georgia by Stalin. Seems to me that in this particular case you are ready to support Josef Stalin decision. Right? Seems to me that it is very very choicy:)).

The first devices of such megabomb was too heavy. Today I presume they refined design. Hopefully today one Topol-M wandering launcher may carry one "country buster".

Since NATO threatens Russia to surround her, she need such busters. Just as counter-balance of such surrounding which is very dangerous for Russia. Not much but at least one TOPOL- M "country buster" per NATO country. This weapon will make NATO just ridiculous and will defend Russia:).

Whose bragging? Recall "Kuskina" mother:). Only 58M test 40+ years ago. Today it may be much more awfull:).
I hope it make you think. How on Earth NATO may defend you from only one russian "country buster"? Nonsense.
