Or maybe they are heading off the usual Oil Company bashing by the the Know Nothingings. Since they know the Oil Companies have nothing to hide an investigation is a teachable moment to show WHY the Leftist Junk Media and their DNC paymasters are full of it. But then that would require the Whine All The Time Choir to actually THINK instead of merely posting the next talking point on their Howard Deaniac Virtual Campaigner list of Bush bashing.

So, here we sit, waiting for President Bush to launch an "investigation" into higher gas prices. And as we sit, the dems are proposing a 60 day suspension of federal gas taxes.
Not they what they propose is ever gonna happen, but it makes them look good as prices skyrocket and as November approaches.

Peak Oil Panic: Is the planet running out of gas? If it is, what should the Bush administration do about it?
- If ChevronTexaco, ExxonMobil, or other private companies actually owned the reserves, the world would be in a much more secure position with regard to oil production. Instead, we are subject to the whims of figures like Chavez, Russias Vladimir Putin, and Irans Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and must worry about the doubtful stability of their personalities and regimes. (To be sure, even a private reserve under such a regime would face the constant threat of nationalization or other interference.) In the mid-1990s, the world had more than 10 million barrels per day of spare production capacity. That figure has fallen to between 1 and 2 million barrels, which means that any significant disruption in supplies can cause prices to soar.

More like trying to take our eyes off their failing immigration bill they refuse to rewrite to a closer House version.

Even though nothing is illegal or wrong with what's going on, it only makes sense to call for the DOJ to look into what they're required to based on complaints for a few political points. If the consumer complains then the DOJ or FEC has and always will have an obligation to investigate.

While I agree with most of what he says, placing the blame on Republicans is pure liberalism.
In 2001 the new Administration tried to hold an energy summit to develop a national energy policy. They were lambasted by the liberal Democrats for (gasp!) having oil executive on the panel. What the hell did they want? Estee Lauder executives? The MTBE fiasco (along with Ethanol) was dictated by the liberal EPA wonks. Then when the oil companies asked for immunity from lawsuits because it was discovered that MTBE was a carcinogen the liberals blocked it.
That's not to say the Republicans were totally not at fault. They didn't fight. They were spineless.
And the litany continues. Off shore drilling. Drilling in ANWR. Cutting the red tape to enable the building of refineries. Pushing to change our energy grid to nuclear power to take the pressure off natural gas. And it goes on ad nauseum.

Throw in an anti-Bush politician in charge of Venezuela...Anti-BUSH??? Seems to me like he's anti-American. But, I guess if you are trying to make a point against Bush, distortions like that don't matter...

What about a windfall tax rebate on the federal government for it's share of increased revenues from the gas tax?Never happen...once the elected thieves (our bad) get their hands on our $$, it's gone.

That link will take you to an article written by Ann Coulter about this very topic...Gas prices.
If you really were a "Coulter" fan you might have posted that one.
Its not a Republican/Bush bash article, I can see how you might miss it.
