Andy Garcia is urging fashion-conscious rebels to stop wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the image of Latino revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara because they remind Cubans of terrible times. The actor accepts that Guevara stands for rebellion and is seen as a hero to many, but he sees the revolutionary as a butcher who killed millions of his countrymen.
Argentine-born Guevara helped current Cuban leader Fidel Castro overthrow General Fulgencio Batista's government in a guerrilla revolution in the late 1950s.
Garcia, who left Cuba when he was five, says, "I'd be curious to go around and ask them how much they really know about Che. Some people wearing the T-shirt don't even know his name. They know he's some sort of revolutionary, and to wear his image is cool because you feel like a revolutionary. Someone told me the other day that they asked one of these people if they were aware of all the executions that Che was a part of in Cuba and the guy said, 'Well, I don't know if that's true, as if it had been made up to discredit him.' I wish you could say it was made up because that would mean that all those people didn't die under his thumb. That's the tragedy."
gotta have some of these shirts!!
LOL thank you.
Chez Nous!

Muslim Americans for Obama '08, found on Obama's main campaign site, allows users to create their own page through a "My Obama" option. The Muslim Americans for Obama page also links to a Web site that features lectures by people who have expressed radical Islamic views in the past.
A portion of the "Muslim Americans for Obama" page lists proposals to establish a Muslim American advisory group on U.S. foreign policy; provide prayer areas in public places such as malls, airports, universities and government buildings; institute a law to allow Muslim employees to take time from their work day for prayer; and institute a law against harassment of Muslim women in public areas.
Jasser was also concerned that the Muslim Americans for Obama site contained a "Qaran (Audio) English Translation." Clicking on that brings a user to the Web site "The Sounds of Islam." At this site users can listen to numerous lectures regarding Islam
post 87..Che Ney.....LOL....
I wish a “Bobby Brady’s Jesse James dream”
on all those who think it’s cool to wear a Che T-Shirt.
Here ya go ladies... Geeze, like a pack of wolves or something... ;-)
Did you see his largely self-financed movie, “The Lost City”? If you had, you wouldn’t be questioning Garcia’s cujones.
There’s a T-shirt around that has Che’s face done from ther names of the people he murdered.
There’s a T-shirt around that has Che’s face done from the names of the people he murdered.
When I was a Senior in high school, a Cuban woman who had been forced to flee Cuba recounted her last memories of her country in an assembly. She was allowed to leave, and as she passed in front of the soldiers, they grabbed her hand and ripped the wedding ring off her finger. She spoke of the killings, the rapes, the fear and horror that she witnessed. They murdered her husband in front of her and stripped her of her wedding band as they forced her out of her home. Her siblings, mother, father, cousins, aunts and uncles were not as lucky.
She felt it was her duty to tell us what it is like to be “freed” by Castro and Che. To this day, when I see someone kiss Castro on the cheek or warmly praise him for his humanitarian government, I want to heave.
Anyone who wears a Che T-shirt should have to wear it while facing those he persecuted and harmed. They should have to look them in the eyes and see who they are “reverencing”. They should be forced to hear it over and over and we’ll see how “hip” it is to have his image plastered over your chest or hanging in your campaign office.
