Actually, I think you are wrong. Just imagine for a moment what a president gore would really have done on 911. I bet he would, in typical knee jerk liberal fashion, go totally over board. Instead of the measured deliberate responses of W we would have gotten knee jerk response that would likely make things much worse. The libs want power, liberal politics is simply their means to that end. They are completely capable of irradiating half the planet in a moment of pique, then destroy themselves and us with all their second guessing and apologia after the reality had sunk in.
Iran is promising they have 40,000 martyrs in waiting ready to attack America, Iran has secret special weapons and Iran has promised to destroy America. Iran would probably try to take credit for it.

If they'd had a pair of working synapses among the whole lot of 'em, they'd have made nice-nice with Israel a long time ago -- for real -- and worked together to make that region into a little bit of heaven on earth.

Yes, agreed, in the general sense, but I was talking of the middle-east context, in which their "goal" seems to be to destroy Israel an kill Jews.
For the rest of the world, it's strictly "house of islam" versus "house of war", which in practice means that we all either "submit", or die.
