Gas up 65% since 2005 - Congress compensation up 250%
25 April 2005 | Edcoil

Posted on 04/25/2006 12:15:13 PM PDT by edcoil

I was just listening to Mark Larsen (kogo 600) out of San Diego.

Mark was not in but his guest host noted that gas was up 65% in a year but congressional compensation is up 250% and was wondering why there was not a probe by President Bush as to that increase.

As someone has pointed out, you don't have to work nearly has long to fill up your gas tank as you do to pay your taxes! Government is the true gouger!

"congressional compensation is up 250%..."

Where is the math that backs up this figure.

There isn't. Thus the problem with posting what one "hears" on the radio.

The pay was $98,400 in 1990, so their pay has only gone up 68% since then, or 3.3% average per year.

I'm not outraged yet, and I get outraged easily. :-)

Yes, of course, the fact that politicians have a tremendous amount of control over the supply of oil has no bearing on fuel prices.

None at all!

I agree. What's with the price of ink versus the price of electronics?

It's always somebody's fault. If there went any somebody's none of these problems would exist.

Get yourself a good used HP Laser Jet on Ebay. A black ink cartridge will cost around $79 and print at least really sharp 5,000 copies.

We have massive amounts of oil in the ground and off our coasts, which they will not allow any drilling for.

Did you not know this?

Was he suggesting that when we pay for Congress we are in fact paying for gas?

I'm nominating yours as best line of the day, LOL!

Who knows what this is. Maybe a car allowance or some compensation that had been frozen for 20 years got doubled or something. I hate misleading stats no matter who is touting them.

Of course, if we were allowed to drill in ANWR and off the coasts fo Florida and California, that wouldn't increase the supply of oil.

How stupid of me to think that it would.

And I'm even more of an idiot for thinking the politicians have any control over that.
