"Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) recommends that the dynamic of applying pressure via massive demonstrations should not be stopped because the reform to the immigration system is at risk of getting stuck in the senate, but he opposes the boycott."

In an exclusive interview during a visit to the offices of La Raza, Senator Durbin a member of the Judiciary Committee predicted that the issue will not die, but at the same time he warned of new risks of losing the political momentum for approval of a measure with the potential of legalizing some 12 million undocumented people.
The two main Republican leaders in Congress, Senator Bill Frist and Representative Dennis Hastert, assured that they expect to advance a bill which does not criminalize the undocumented. In a joint statement, they said "It continues to be our intention to produce a strong border security bill which will not make illegal presence in the United States a serious crime."
However, they did not clarify whether being undocumented would be considered a misdemeanor or a civil offense as it is at present. Neither did they make it clear whether it would criminalize people who assist the "illegals" and they made no mention of plans for legalization or temporary worker programs. Moreover, there was no mention of the next step in Congress in whether the matter will be taken up again after the Easter break. Crucial moment What is the next step for the Senate?
I am worried because the Senate calendar is very crowded. After Easter we have to do the supplementary appropriation for the war. Then we start moving into the appropriations bill, and it gets very difficult to set aside the time we need for something else. The lack of time is the unfortunate part of this.
Senator (Bill) Frist (Republican majority leader) said he wanted to bring this to the floor, but it was never clear to us how we will have time to deal with it. He pushed is own bill on the floor. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a better, bipartisan bill with Senator (Arlen) Specter supporting it. Then, when we were preparing to reach the point of voting, there came the Martínez-Hagel proposal toward the end of the time, but we could not act, there was no time.
The U.S. Senate is a very particular institution, where each member has a vote of equal value. Any senator can set and yo and stop a debate. A group of Senators is very powerful because they can oppose a bill and offer a series of amendments and keep doing that until time runs out.
- Can there be a setback?
- The Judiciary Committee may reconsider the project, which would be terrible because that's where the amendments would begin. In my opinion, any amendment made at this time is counterproductive because it makes it hard to get the majority needed for support.
I have been in politics for several years and have never seen an outpouring of people across the country like this. I think this has created a political dynamic that the opponents of immigration reform never expected. Many people who were scared to stand up and say "I am undocumented" now say it. It means that finally there is a realization by the rest of America about the size of this challenge.
How many lives are involved in this challenge? This has been helpful. But also, I have to tell you that if I measure my position by the phone calls and emails I get, there is still overwhelming opposition to immigration reform. That's a fact. You never know, when you receive these calls, how many have been created by groups or even generated by computers, but there are also some people calling and saying they are with us.
Do you believe that the momentum you mention is unstoppable? At this point, the force for change should perhaps come from other than politicians. We feel it should be from groups that believe in this cause to speak up. Church leaders, people in business, the union movement, people who believe this reform is the only sensible thing.
But we must not let this reform stop, because if we wait a month, two months, three months, we may never be able to capture the momentum we have these days. These demonstrations are important, but they have to be peaceful and positive and continue reaching out and bringing in more people. As long as the face of this effort is the face of the family wanting to stay together and to make America a better place, we can win. There are some people with a different agenda, some carrying signs saying "Amnesty." That is a killer word in this debate. If you say this is amnesty, people will say, "No way!"
This is not amnesty. This is an eleven-year process where you have to be very serious about becoming an American citizen. You have to learn English, you have to work, you have to pay your back taxes and fines, go through criminal background checks and get a medical exam. It's a tough road.
Is your Dream Act bill part of the reform? Yes, it was also approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee and would allow undocumented students who came to this country as small children to become citizens. They would have to prove their moral character, study or enlist in the military for at least two years. Dangerous polarization How do you feel about the controversy over the use of the Mexican flag in the protests?
If you live in Chicago, you know that as soon as the weather warms up there are parades every weekend. Filipinos, Greek Americans, Polish, German, Lithuanian, Irish, everybody has a parade and they are proud to use their flags along with the American. Who calls the Irish of Chicago traitors because of the Saint Patrick's Day parade? I don't feel any less American for flying the flag of Lithuania, where my mother was born. I am only showing pride in my origin and my being here. In a recent community forum, an immigrant came to me and said, "Now they are calling all of us Mexicans," as if it were a negative term. Hate language is coming out.
How do you deal with this?
For that, people who are not Hispanic have to stand up and say this is wrong and they will not allow it. This country is based on tolerance and diversity, and that's why we are so strong. We also have to keep in mind that we are very proud of our origins. Do you believe there has been any polarization between African Americans and Latins? Yes, there is a certain tension because of a feeling of competition for jobs. As long as we have this current system where people are living in the shadows, off the books, there will be distrust. Besides, those people won't be treated any better or paid any better.
Can the boycott help?
I hope it doesn't reach that point. The word "boycott" is an Irish word and comes from the Irish reaction to the British rule. If you ask me whether or not it's the right thing to do at this moment, I would say no. I think it's better to continue with what we're doing, the peaceful, positive and pro-family demonstrations. I think they have much more impact because they show how many people are affected.
Do you think President Bush is serious about the issue?
I am a harsh critic of the President, but I give him credit. During the State of the Union address, looking right at the Republicans on the floor, he said "These immigrants are an important part of America's economy." I think, when it comes to this issue, that he has continued to speak in positive terms about it, and by what he has said in the last couple of weeks, he could be a valuable ally.
We have a chance here and I just do not want to miss it. These chances don't come around very often. This is the time to do something that will affect the lives of millions of people.

Dick is a man of many hats.
Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) recommends that the dynamic of applying pressure via massive demonstrations should not be stopped because the reform to the immigration system is at risk of getting stuck in the senate, but he opposes the boycott.
Can't have those golf courses go unkempt can we, Senator? Mayor Bloomberg? God! What is wrong with world?!
is overdue for a Ji Haza.
The reason this is so important is because Durbin went to the La Raza office, where he encouraged them to continue demonstrating and to "keep the pressure on." He has encouraged millions of law breakers to keep the pressure on our government, to FORCE them to grant amnesty. All done in the pretext of caring about illegals when all he really cares about is getting them signed up to vote Democrat, which ALL of the Soros groups have been doing!! The Democrat Party has been signing them up too, even though they are NOT citizens of the U.S.

That way they are ready to vote in 06, and will forever change the face of politics in America. you can expect ALL offices in the federal, state or city elections to be filled with Democrats, but by the 2008 elections the Mexicans intend to have "their own candidates" running for office.
One only has to read the information on this link to know that America as we once knew it is gone. These are the NGOS and other private organizations started by George Soros and his ilk.
Be sure to scroll down to see the list of their names. You will see "La Raza" listed among the others. They are ALL working to destroy America, with the help of the traitors in DC.

IMO, the most damning thing about Durbin being in bed with La Raza is this:

La Raza is a militant group that advocates reclaiming land for Mexico, and they have connections to a terrorist group, as is shown in this picture. La Raza went to visit Yasser Arafat and the PLO. I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why they were there. How does that go? "If you lay with the pigs, you smell like the pigs!"
You can see how easily Muslim terrorists could pass for Mexicans, and cross the border with intentions to kill Americans.
La Raza wants to reclaim this land for Mexico.

With the encouragement and help of these two men!

I was followig some links off of La Raza, (after the demonstrations/marches) and I came across the name "Mi Familia Vota." I had never heard of them before but I knew it had something to do with Hispanic families voting. I wanted to find out who and where Mi Familia Vota was registering votes, so I put MiFamiliaVota.org in the browser and much to my surprise "People for the American Way" came up! They are busy working AGAINST Republicans and the "Right Wingers." Ickes and Soros, and many other organizations have been working overtime since the last election putting their money and effort to make sure the Democrat Party takes over the rule of America! They are 100% behind amnesy because they KNOW illegals will ALL vote Democrat. They've been scaring them into believing that Republicans are evil.
Mi Familia Vota!
Hispanic Voter Registration Project Launched
PFAW Foundation, in partnership with the Center for Immigrant Democracy, has launched Mi Familia Vota (MFV), a voter registration project in immigrant communities in Florida.

MFV plans to add 50,000 new Hispanic voters to the Florida electorate over the next six months. Registration efforts will be followed up by an intensive Get Out the Vote campaign to bring both newly registered voters and infrequent voters to the polls in November.
The 29 million individuals currently living in the United States described by the Census data as "foreign born" constitute the largest immigration wave in U.S. history. Millions of these immigrants are naturalized citizens; millions more are on their way to becoming citizens. But for many immigrants, citizens and non-citizens alike, full participation in this nation's political process is still a distant dream. Although their lives are shaped by decisions made at the local, state and national levels, their ability to impact those decisions is very slight indeed.
The state of Florida has approximately 450,000 unregistered Hispanics eligible to vote. By concentrating on the Tampa Bay, Orlando, and South Florida Hispanic population centers, MFV looks to register 50,000 new voters, or around 10% of this untapped population. This process has begun with pilot programs in Miami-Dade County and Orange County.
To this end, Mi Familia Vota will canvas door-to-door using walk lists of unregistered but eligible voters, work mass locations that most residents frequent in their communities (worksites, supermarkets, high schools and universities, local stores, beauty salons and barber shops), and attend mass meetings created by specific events (concerts, festivals, naturalization ceremonies, and online "meet-ups").
In order to inspire engagement in civic participation and the political process, MFV works to foster a personal relationship with the Hispanic population in Florida, especially because it has often been overlooked by conventional political organizations and institutions.
PFAW Foundation has established a broad range of programs across the country to address both the widespread voter disenfranchisement of the 2000 elections and to increase voter participation in underrepresented populations. Mi Familia Vota is another program within this context, geared specifically to the needs of Florida's Hispanic/Latino population.
IF Republicans are smart, they will drop ANY guest worker/amnesty/shamnesty or scamnesty because in the end, they will be voted out of office by the very people they will give voting rights to!
"
This is the biggest thing that pisses me off about this whole thing. OUR elected officials bowing to the demands of non citizens and also doing their bidding. This is a clear violation of their oath of office. They are putting their political and social desires ahead of the wishes of their voters.
So Turban is cavorting with racist groups...
Dick is a man of many hats.
Let's hope some of those irate IL citizens who have been unable to find jobs tell him what he can do with those hats.:o)
See post 5. Then you'll really be irate! You have no idea how mad I was as I was reading all of the things I found. :o)
Exactly!! I was furious when I found that on La Raza's website. I guess he never figured they would put it there. Did you see post #5? It's got a lot more information on this dirtbag and why it made me so mad.
Little bit of interesting information in this I haven't seen anywhere else yet. They provided a scenario where the amnesty bill dies because there isn't enough time and that's perfectly fine with me. It doesn't matter how this monstrosity meets its demise just as long as it does.
He sure is, but his friends cavort with known terrorist groups. When I saw that picture of the La Raza gang with Yasser Arafat and the PLO, it REALLY made me mad. He really is Turbin Durbin.
See, we are too easy on our elected officials. We should drag them from their offices, tie them to trees and set them ablaze. The treacherous from both sides of the aisle need to be purged from congress.
I don't trust him. He might have been telling them that figuring that it would cause them to demonstrate more to "keep the momentum going." I'm with you though, ANYTHING to keep this thing from passing. The illegals will all be voting in 06 if they are granted amnesty.
Very possible, most of it just sounded like propaganda.
Would you please move this out of the blogs? I'm not sure how it ended up there, but certainly doesn't belong there. Sorry about that. Thanks! :o)
LOL! Boy howdy, I sure wish we would do it. I like the way you think. ;o)
I love that comment about the Razi guy about how they can't "lose momentum".
Yeah, they are really on a roll!
Great info.
Read post #5 after reading the La Raza newsletter and before your head totally explodes.
