MIAMI -- Federal immigration authorities arrested 183 fugitives and other illegal immigrants across Florida last week, the largest total ever in a single week in the state, officials said Monday.
Those arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement included convicted people convicted of sex offenses, child abuse, cocaine trafficking and weapons violations. They were originally from 26 countries and most will eventually be deported back to those countries.
``Anybody who is a fugitive from justice is a danger to the community,'' said Michael Rozos, the field director in Miami of ICE's ``Operation Phoenix'' effort to find and deport fugitive illegal immigrants. ``These operations have been going on for years, but they have become more focused.''

I will not be impressed with this until they shut the border down and really do a crack down and deport them be the train loads. A few here a few there is only window treatment to fake out the sheeple.

I read that but the point is they did the same thing here in the Chicagoland area and they eventually released them after detaining them for a few days.

I figure it's mostly for show anyway. Makes it look like someone is doing something. I bet there are more than a few nervous Mexicans out there now.

After the situation last week here in Chicago, I realized this is all about show not about enforcing the law.

We know this is just for show--in another article President Bush is saying that mass deportations won't work.

they did the same thing here in the Chicagoland area and they eventually released them after detaining them for a few days. Were they illegals with prior criminal convictions or were they people picked up at those recent worksite raids at IFCO? Sometimes they really do deport those with criminal convictions.

What about the other twenty four million?

``These operations have been going on for years, but they have become more focused.'' Nothing like the threat of voting the treacherous congressmen out to focus their minds. And the recent letters and phone calls have even helped.

"They were originally from 26 countries and most will eventually be deported back to those countries. Why not all deported as soon as transportation can be arranged - no "deportation hearings" just deportation.

There were over 100 arrested and it was reported they were released within the week.

Reminds me of the war on drugs. Bust a boat with a ton of pot, while 20 tons of cocaine filters in elsewhere.

Now on drugs...all the ugliness that goes with that should be a great reason to legalize them. Boy, would that ever stop a whole lot of madness with the illegal drug trade. The list of what would stop if drugs were legalized is so long it boggles the mind.
