Funny how the Bush Admin can carry on to the ends of the earth when it matters to them - the War on Drugs for example.

But when it doesn't matter, they throw up their arms and say it can't be done.

The key, Mr. President, is to get the illegals to self deport by aggressively going after employers who hire them, cutting off all their welfare freebies, and repealing the anchor baby laws. Did you address any of this in your speech today? Didn't think so. Far easier just to say "massive deportation won't work."

I believe ALL elected officials are sworn to obey the Contitution? Oh, it's just an old meaningless document anyway. Politicians these days are so much smarter than our founders.

"as he tried to revive prospects for an election-year agreement in the divided U.S. Congress."

And he thought that he was helping election year candidates....oh no that did not help unless he wanted the other party to win. Wait what is the other party to him?

Stop hiring them, they'll go home and pay their own transportation costs...

They will never choose to go home as long as they have free health care, education, food stamps, licenses, jobs. Duh!

That depends on whom you are working for, Mr. P. It would work for Americans. It just wouldn't work for the Communists who are inciting illegals to "march for their rights", when as illegals they have NO rights in this country. As criminals, it is their "right" to be incarcerated prior to deportation.

I still think they should all be inducted into the armed services, and deployed to Iraq and other strategic locales in the middle East. If they serve the U.S. well in the service, they can earn citizenship upon discharge. Pay would be better than pickin' peas. They'd get room, board, duds and spending money for the duration. Hard to beat that.

President George W. Bush said on Monday he doubted a "massive deportation" of foreigners living illegally in the United States would solve the country's immigration woes

I am so embarrassed that I campaigned for this president, twice! I actually got an "official invitation" to his first inaugeration, but was too busy rallying to stop Gore from stealing the election to make plans to go. I know that the alternative was worse (Gore or Kerry), but what are we to do?! I am voting third party in 2006 to teach a lesson for 2008. I can't give the current Senate-Republicans a "that-a-boy" with my vote this year. The Republican era is over, I'm afraid.

Mr Mojo is right. If you punish companies that hire illegal workers, they'll stop hiring. Simple enough to do, using social security and tax reports.

If you stop giving them free schooling, free hospital care except in dire emergencies, in-state tuition rates not available to American citizens, and welfare benefits for which they are not qualified, it will also discourage them.

States that insist on handing out massive benefits, like California, should get no help or reimbursement from the federal government.

You will still have a few illegals, but then the situation will be controllable, and you can use normal law enforcement procedures. The reason we have all these illegals here in the first place is earlier amnesties, and widespread refusal to enforce our existing laws.

I think our immigration woes first include the 4 million who are waiting in line to come into the country legally, with some having been in line for 23 years. I can pity them, but I have minus zero compassion for those who stole across the border.

This is a False Choice, which is a Logical Fallacy. We don't have to deport all of them, just enough to put The Fear into them. As others have posted, busting companies that knowingly hire them will go a long way toward mitigating the problem.

But the most important action is to secure the borders. Build a wall/fence that is difficult to pass through.

Dane with that pic you show just how ignorant you truly are on the subject

But if want to use Germans

...if 12 million illegal German's were moving it to the old Silesia area of modern Poland

...and they were talking about reforming the greater German Reich.....

Bush: Massive deportation of migrants won't work

There's that `can do' spirit (sarcasm). . . .
but I don't recall him swearing to uphold and defend the Constitution: ". . . except for that messy southwest border invasion thing, not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent."

I must have been distracted, watching "Slick" `saw logs'.

In 1986 they estimate one million illegal aliens lived in the country, but it turned out to be over 3 million. Of the 3 million 398k were denied amnesty due to fraud. Many more were suspected of having committed fraud, but they were unable to prove it. Imagine for a second, we have a system which can barely handle the 4 million waiting in line legally, and so how in the hell are they supposed to handle another 12 million?

With the way the Media is playing this up and the hype and sensationalism with this....W is most likely correct in a very different way.

Where are the Conservatives with all the money? Why didn't they buy up the air waves?

This is totally insane.

The State of Georgia doesn't think deportation is necessary. Follow Georgia's example, and watch them deport themselves.
