Is Joe crazy?

Pretty much. He decided he wanted to be a media talking head instead of a congressman.

He ain't doin' too well as a talking head either; his show is being swapped with Rita Cosby's, which means he gets the dog slot at 8 CST.

Joe's show is just not that good.

It seems like we are between a rock and a hard place.

Punish the GOP for their craven apathy, you get the real deal and higher taxes and more government intervention in our lives.

Continue voting for GOP control, you get more of the same.

NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR THE US of A AT ALL.

Joe Scarborough is a legend in his own mind!

Joe's been getting a DNA transplant from Chrissy Matthews!

What were his major contributions when he was in Congress?

As a solid conservative, I am planning to sit it out this year.

...consider that if you sit it out across the board, nobody hears from you. But if you vote for conservative third party candidates, truly conservative Republicans, and withhold your vote from liberals regardless of their party affiliation, this will do more for conservatism than just sitting it out.

That pesky Justice dept. going after scoundrels like pedophiles and in country terrorists and Homeland security...well! We should get rid of those two now!

Joe needs to take a deep breath and think about the world since 9-11 and even further back. If anyone he needs to take aim at the dems and specifically at the limp wristed RINOS who have made it easier for the dems to play politics. Even so the great and historic successes of the Republicans somehow fade away into smoke when Joey comes to town brandishing his indignant populist demagoguery.

What a jerk!

"...it can always be worse."

I dunno. Fundamentally, it doesn't matter what government does, it matters what it spends. Government is what government spends - It's not important, other than constitutionally mandated items, what the money gets spent on.

On that measure, government spending, it's hard to imagine Democrats spending significantly more than Republicans have managed to - it would just be different things.

unfortunately both parties have taken themselves to their respective lunatic fringes and have little to offer in terms of meaningful policy.

In this case, can anyone recommend a REAL, CONSERVATIVE party I can get behind with ?

I care. Two reasons: Roberts and Alito.

When it comes to wise spending on domestic matters, I do subscribe to the structure of a Dem president and a Pubbie congress. The reverse has not worked out, on that score. Sad to say, the presidency is not all about domestic spending. The public square is complicated!

As an ex-drunken sailor I resent being compared to these GOP spendthrifts.

I think it would be good if one of the two houses at least fell to the Democrats. Probably the Senate. It's not like the Senate has done anything good recently anyway.

I disagree. I want to have a solid conservative SCOTUS, which we may get if there's an opening in the next 2-3 years. Even when the president looks bad, his choice for SCOTUS (bar the Meiers misstep, but it was corrected) has been good. None of this is going to happen with Senate under Democratic hand.

Threatening who?

The guys who claimed to be signing a contract with America to reduce the natiional debt, reduce the size of government, and bring integrity back to the institutions of government?

How can it be a threat to simply indicate that I would rather go out riding my horse, fishing, camping, playing with my grandson than busting my a55 walking precincts and phone banking and donating $$$ for a Republican candidate who has given his loyalty to illegal aliens, corporations, and the party, and abandoned those principles stated above?

I am not thrilled with the spending, or new entitlements, BUT - there's judges to think about, WoT, Taxes... I'll vote Rep this year. I do wish the spending hadn't been so bad...

Conservatives waited and waited for a Republican congress and a Republican President...

...they let us down...waisted the opportunity...makes me sick!

Actually, as a "very conservative" conservative, Joe make some sense. Frankly, it seems to me that it may take someone like Hillary winning the whitehouse to reawaken the conservative base and thereby cause them to become proactive again about nominating a "real conservative" ticket. I foresee a three-way split (real conseratives, phoney conservatives/aka moderates, liberals) in the future in which "real conservatives" will represent a sizeable minority in both houses. Thereby, this group will become the swing factor concerning any votes of consequence and will as a result have more power than so called conservatives may have today. A catharsis as such will be good for all I think.

Quit sitting in denial about the state of affairs in the Republican party. If the democrats were spending like this cast of pubs you would be in the streets screaming.

That was Newt Gingrich ~ let's bring this up to date a bit ~ 9/11 happened and national defense was added back in the budget. We also had a whopping big recession as a consequence of the Dot.Com bust.

Currently we are faced with the cold hard facts that the Democrats have turned into a virulently anti-American party who cannot be trusted with national defense, or anything else.

Your suggestion that we simply turn the country over to these treasonous, poisonous b*st*ards for a year or two must be taken as a real threat to me, my family, our friends, and the existence of America ~ as much a threat as if you were aiming a loaded gun at us.

Today's Republicans have shown themselves to be unfit for governance.

But the Dems are even more unfit.

Fear for the nation.

When I say "Sit it out", I mean not working my A55 off for the Republican Party. No precinct walking, no phone banking, no letters to the editor...

I will vote. I always vote. I have voted every single election that I have been eligible to vote in since 1974.

Right now, I am in a district of a congressman who ran as a member of the "Gang of 7" who promised to clean up Congress. He has recently started pushing $$$ to the district because he is threatened by the Duke Cunningham scandal. Pushing $$$...that is what he ran AGAINST.

Need some federal $$$????? Hmmmmm... I have a bunch and I want to get re-elected. Does that sound like a conservative?
