Joe Scarborough : Who cares if GOP loses Congress ?

Who cares if GOP loses Congress?

By Joe Scarborough

Who really cares if Republicans lose Congress? Certainly not GOP leaders in the US House.

As the Wall Street Journal reported, the Republican pigs running Congress are wasting more money than those big-spending Democrats ever did.

Last month's deficit was the highest ever. But while Rome burns, Republicans obsess over their earmarks.

Conservative Republicans. What an oxymoron.

There is nothing conservative about the party to which I once proudly belonged. Like millions, I am disgusted by my party and their leaders.

A handful of responsible adults still understand the need for reform. But don't tell that to GOP bulls who have been trying to spend money like drunken sailors since they were empowered by the Revolution of 1994.

Some revolution.

A decade later, Republicans have given America the biggest deficit ever. The biggest debt ever. The biggest trade gap ever. The highest spending increases ever. A 110% increase in the education bureaucracy. A 100% increase in the Justice bureaucracy. An 88% increase in the Department of HHS. More pork projects than ever before. More earmarks than ever before. More reckless spending projects than ever before. A bigger, more wasteful government than ever before.

Why the hell should conservatives work to put these whores back in their perches of power?

Could Nancy Pelosi's Congress be worse?

Not on the spending level, because George W. Bush would have the courage to veto her outrageous spending bills. Sadly, he has shown no such fortitude with his own party in charge.

It is disgusting. It is also a problem I diagnosed two years ago in my book. But Republicans weren't listening then and they won't listen now.

Interesting post....the worst of it is that there are probably 30 to 50 million illegals here now....at least three times the number that everyone handidly uses.

Look no further than Chaffee in RI and what the RNC is doing for him against his conservative challenger.

Disgusting. The RNC acts like hoes who put out for pimps who slap them around which is what ol Lincoln Chaffee has done to them.

Seems as if the talk show hosts are spending more time whining about republicans and getting their sheeple incensed over republicans rather than focusing on democrats. They have become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Hey, the Foreign Affairs group you pointed to is owned by the Council on Foreign Relations...That's the group that is pushing Congress to do away with our northern and southern borders...To create the 'new' country of 'North America', which would include Canada and Mexico...

And why??? All for the purpose of globalism and GREED...

This is exactly who Joe is referring to...

Why the hell should conservatives work to put these whores back in their perches of power?

No wonder you don't like Joe...You're one of them...

He's got a point. But when the parties change places, things get unstuck and the country lurches in dangerous directions. If the country slides to the left, it could cause a lot of damage. Some people think you can contain and control the change, but that's not always possible.

In 1986 Reagan finally signed the immigration reform act. He had been told that there were 1 million illegal immigrants in country. Within two years three and a half million had signed up for naturalization.

Reagan was also assured that new laws would prevent employers from hiring illegals or face stiff penalties. He was also assured the border would be rigidly enforced.

He was promised this right along with the rest of us, and at 1 million we bit off on it.

We were sold out on every aspect of that bill. I do not trust the idiots who are promising fixes today any farther than I can throw them.

Do I think there are only 10-12 million in country today? Hell no. My guess would be 22.5 million.

We reportedly had 10 million in 2000 and this is six years later. Even if you only thought 2 million were getting through each year, that's 12 million more. We've reportedly had as many as 3 million coming in per year.

For the record I say there's between 15 and 30 million, but if I had to pick a number, I'd guess 22.5 million.

The dems already lead the republicans around by their noses.

He can say that again. Even with a republican controled government we still are not able to become independent and drill our own oil, build new refineries, save the 10 Commandments and secure our borders.

I agree.

I'm staying home in the hope that the dims will take power for 2 years and teach the GOP a lesson.

I've voted GOP in EVERY election since my first...when I voted for Gerald Ford.

HiJinx told me they were catching 40,000 per month in Arizona. Many of those are released to show up in court at some later date.

We are only catching 1 out of 5 to 1 out of 10. Scary numbers.

My guess is there are 20 million in California. 10 million in Texas and another 10 to 15 million elsewhere.

That is 45 million.

Don't forget the millions who overstay visas or sneak in some other way. Its not just the border.

I first voted for Richard Nixon in 1972. I've voted for every Republican candidate since, but one. I couldn't do it in 2000. I think it's fairly obvious by now, why I couldn't. I bit the bullet in 2004, and here we are. Joy.

I'm about as disgusted as I could possibly be. The party left me. I never left it.

But FReepers aren't supposed to be regular voters

Exactly the point! So, now you can imagine how the average American swing voter who is not so informed as a freeper must feel about the republican controlled government. Whether that feeling is misguided or not... it does not matter in the end when they come out and put their vote in the box.

If the base is very unhappy about the failed leadership of their party...you can multiply that unhappiness many times over for the non-partisan average American voter who is paying almost $4 a gallon for gas just to drive by illegals waving a mexican flag on his way to work to pay taxes to help support those illegals which our president claims are here to do the jobs that Americans wont do.

I can't say that you are wrong. There are supposed to be about 34 million Californians these days. I doubt there are 20 million illegals in state, but nobody really knows.

In time we'll probably find out as they get transitioned to citizenship.

I may not be able to stop that, but I can sure stand by and watch as the R.P. looks for support to counter the democrats they are ushering into the nation.

My opinions don't count, so my votes won't either.

The party left me. I never left it.

Evidently those "moderates" that the dems abandoned in their leftward lurch were just too tempting for the RINOs.

I cant blame you. Sometimes it takes a loss of a term to teach them a lesson and make them improve. A term or two later they come back new and improved. I truely believe that.

As for me, I cant stay home. Here in Maine, Gov. Baldacci's up for re-election and he's almost totally destroyed this state so I MUST do my duty and try to save Maine. I live in a state where our governor not only went down to beg Chavez for help but also FIDEL CASTRO!

I'm so embarrassed

Seems like there's enough embarassment to go round these days. Our governor is a RINO in good standing, and I helped put him there. Somebody shoot me...

Well they are more moderate than Kerry and Hillary, but they're also more leftist than anyone I'd vote for. They're in limbo land.

Thank you! I needed the laugh.

What made it funny is that....you're right! The comparison is an insult!

I was a broken-glass Republican since 1994. I'm very disappointed with Bush's second term, I'm fuming at the Senate over immigration, disgusted with both houses of Congress over the spending, and sick of the fact that the Republican Leadership still cowers before the media instead of coming out swinging.

Our military has done a great job across the globe disposing of bad-guys. Why can't we use this kind of muster when it comes to advancing a CONSERVATIVE agenda?

The Dims will balance the budget by cutting off funding fo the military. That's how it was done inm the 1990s. DoD was the only department that got a cut.
