PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush will spend much of his day with Marines and sailors, attending church and joining them for lunch at the base in Twentynine Palms, CA.
Last night in Indian Wells, near Palm Springs, GWB helped pull in nearly $2 million for the RNC at the Toscana Country Club. Tomorrow, after a speech on immigration in Orange County, the President heads for Las Vegas and a fundraiser for Nevada Congressman Jon Porter. From the podium, the President mentioned dignitaries in attendance such as Dug Sundheim, California Republican Party chairman; Bruce McPherson, Secretary of State; Sen. Chuck Poochigan, R-Fresno, a candidate running unopposed in the June Republican Primary for Attorney General; Steve Poizner, running unopposed for the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner and U.S. Reps. Connie Mack, R-FL, and Mary Bono, R-Palm Springs, who happen to be dating but were seated at different tables. In his remarks, the President highlighted the War on Terror and how students need to be prepared for the future.
After his lunch and visit with the Twentynine Palms base Marines and sailors, GWB is expected to spend the rest of the weekend at an undisclosed location in Rancho Mirage.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: Over the past couple of days, the President spoke publicly on a number of issues -- too many to single out one quote. So I've linked to three important transcripts on the White House website. With these links at your disposal, you can read the transcripts at your convenience.
President Bush Discusses Advanced Transportation Technology in CaliforniaPresident Congratulates Iraqi Leadership on National Unity Government Agreement
Folks who have been following this presidency closely from the beginning know that President Bush has been trying to get Congress to pass a comprehensive energy bill ever since 2001. Here is a link to the President's Letter to the American People about his Advanced Energy Initiative, and a summary of the initiative. For those interested, the linked WhiteHouse.gov page also contains a link to download a .PDF copy of the complete Advanced Energy Initiative document. Other than cutting back on our driving and other uses of gasoline, we can't do much about the soaring costs of fuel in the short term. However, we can help the President ensure a more energy-secure future for us and our children and grandchildren. I urge all Dosers (active and lurking) to familarize themselves with the President's proposals, and to pressure your congressional representatives and senators to pass either the entire initiative or those portions of the proposals with which you agree.
Hi Jonny. So glad you could stop by for a bit. Love the mountain biking photo and the ones with the Marines and sailors.
The part of California that the President is staying in today is really beautiful. Nutty politics and vapid Hollywood celebs aside, I love this state.
Hi Maj. I thought you'd enjoy those shots.
Glad to hear you finally got figured out what was wrong with you! Be sure you take ALL your medicine!:)
Exactly what I was thinking. I'm glad it's something that can be taken care of pretty easily.
Through the years here on the Dose we have often remarked on the Man's many expressions. He is truly the Man of a Thousand Faces. Everything inside shows on his face.
Lol yes maybe. Or maybe they'll just keep giving me advice about what I should do :)
Neither would I, although I'm sure, real or not, the name "Bobby Bible" would confound most of the secularists in the media.
I will! I'm just glad I know what it is now.
That's good news, ilovew. Even so, a strep throat can be serious if not attended to, so I'm glad you went to see a doctor.
It makes me smile how he does what he can to put those young people at their ease in his presence.
Yup :) I read through the posts late last night--I think they diagnosed you with everything from mumps to bird flu, lol
I have been trying to catch up on the CIA leaker story, and that huge thread is a wealth of information. I finally got through reading it about an hour ago. I recommend everyone take some time next week to read it and familiarize themselves with the many players...all of whom are involved in what I believe to be a conspiracy to destroy the President and this nation.
Please don't apologize. The Dose is a relaxed friendly place where we are not critical of one another (at least not often). ;-)
Yep, me too. I'm on penicillin for ten days...which, btw, is through exams...yikes!
I agree.
God bless him always!!!
THANKS for sharing - great photos - lived out that way 10 years - not too much about California I miss - but these vistas are breathtaking - used to ride them just moseying around.
Yes, they did! :) Lol but I love everyone for being concerned. It was very sweet.
The President may have seen just such a sunset last night. A rainstorm was approaching Los Angeles about sunset, so the skies over the mountains and desert to L.A.'s southeast might have looked just like what you see in the photo.
"I'm on penicillin for ten days"
Drink lots of water!
I read the posts yesterday.....don't remember if it was mystery or someone else who thought you might have strep.
Thank goodness you went to Dr. And, glad you'll now be on road to recovery!
