PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush will spend much of his day with Marines and sailors, attending church and joining them for lunch at the base in Twentynine Palms, CA.
Last night in Indian Wells, near Palm Springs, GWB helped pull in nearly $2 million for the RNC at the Toscana Country Club. Tomorrow, after a speech on immigration in Orange County, the President heads for Las Vegas and a fundraiser for Nevada Congressman Jon Porter. From the podium, the President mentioned dignitaries in attendance such as Dug Sundheim, California Republican Party chairman; Bruce McPherson, Secretary of State; Sen. Chuck Poochigan, R-Fresno, a candidate running unopposed in the June Republican Primary for Attorney General; Steve Poizner, running unopposed for the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner and U.S. Reps. Connie Mack, R-FL, and Mary Bono, R-Palm Springs, who happen to be dating but were seated at different tables. In his remarks, the President highlighted the War on Terror and how students need to be prepared for the future.
After his lunch and visit with the Twentynine Palms base Marines and sailors, GWB is expected to spend the rest of the weekend at an undisclosed location in Rancho Mirage.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: Over the past couple of days, the President spoke publicly on a number of issues -- too many to single out one quote. So I've linked to three important transcripts on the White House website. With these links at your disposal, you can read the transcripts at your convenience.
President Bush Discusses Advanced Transportation Technology in CaliforniaPresident Congratulates Iraqi Leadership on National Unity Government Agreement
Folks who have been following this presidency closely from the beginning know that President Bush has been trying to get Congress to pass a comprehensive energy bill ever since 2001. Here is a link to the President's Letter to the American People about his Advanced Energy Initiative, and a summary of the initiative. For those interested, the linked WhiteHouse.gov page also contains a link to download a .PDF copy of the complete Advanced Energy Initiative document. Other than cutting back on our driving and other uses of gasoline, we can't do much about the soaring costs of fuel in the short term. However, we can help the President ensure a more energy-secure future for us and our children and grandchildren. I urge all Dosers (active and lurking) to familarize themselves with the President's proposals, and to pressure your congressional representatives and senators to pass either the entire initiative or those portions of the proposals with which you agree.
I love it when he does that. He's so cute!
It isn't necessary to eat yogurt when one takes penicillin. However, antibotics kill bacteria, both the bad and good kind. We need good bacteria for proper digestion and other reasons. So eating live-culture yogurt when taking antibiotics is beneficial.
He is cute. He has one of the most interesting faces I think I've ever seen. Always so much to see in his expressions.
Another great photo!!!
Hello how are things we have missed you
beautiful photos of the President AND the majesty of our nation! Thanks!
He does have great expressions. And it looks kinda GQ, dontcha think?
Cool,Thank You
I remember that comp. It's a great sequence. The man is just so expressive.
You're welcome. Perhaps there will be better photos of AF1 as the President leaves Palm Springs tomorrow.
You're welcome. :)
I never would have believed it, snugs. I didn't think the weather was right for palm trees. Thanks for finding and posting them!!!
OHHHH yes. I love it when he does that ;-)
I do. I also think a bit of California sunshine has done wonders for our Dubya. He was looking and sounding kind of worn out when he left DC. Of course, DC is a fetid swamp, both politically and historically (before the swamps were drained as the city grew). It's a wonder anyone can survive there.
Now, close the border, and everything will be fine.
Whoops...did I say that?...It just typed right out from my fingertips!!!
I'd be worn out too if I had all those idiots second guessing everything I was doing. I hope he's getting lotsa rest. All those campaigns are coming up and, despite what the MSM thinks, he's going to be making a lot of appearances.
Great letter--short and to the point! LOL!
I KNOW it's not as hard to solve the "border" problem as they're making it . . . someone just needs the "guts" to do what needs to be done. I'm not saying this to start a big political discussion (this is a happy place, after all!) but if it's this frustrating to me, imagine how frustrating it has got to be for the Pres.
I love that picture with the glasses, too!
