A day in the life of President Bush (4/23/06): photos/news; Marines/sailors

PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President Bush will spend much of his day with Marines and sailors, attending church and joining them for lunch at the base in Twentynine Palms, CA.

Last night in Indian Wells, near Palm Springs, GWB helped pull in nearly $2 million for the RNC at the Toscana Country Club. Tomorrow, after a speech on immigration in Orange County, the President heads for Las Vegas and a fundraiser for Nevada Congressman Jon Porter. From the podium, the President mentioned dignitaries in attendance such as Dug Sundheim, California Republican Party chairman; Bruce McPherson, Secretary of State; Sen. Chuck Poochigan, R-Fresno, a candidate running unopposed in the June Republican Primary for Attorney General; Steve Poizner, running unopposed for the Republican nomination for Insurance Commissioner and U.S. Reps. Connie Mack, R-FL, and Mary Bono, R-Palm Springs, who happen to be dating but were seated at different tables. In his remarks, the President highlighted the War on Terror and how students need to be prepared for the future.

After his lunch and visit with the Twentynine Palms base Marines and sailors, GWB is expected to spend the rest of the weekend at an undisclosed location in Rancho Mirage.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Over the past couple of days, the President spoke publicly on a number of issues -- too many to single out one quote. So I've linked to three important transcripts on the White House website. With these links at your disposal, you can read the transcripts at your convenience.

President Bush Discusses Advanced Transportation Technology in California

President Congratulates Iraqi Leadership on National Unity Government Agreement

Folks who have been following this presidency closely from the beginning know that President Bush has been trying to get Congress to pass a comprehensive energy bill ever since 2001. Here is a link to the President's Letter to the American People about his Advanced Energy Initiative, and a summary of the initiative. For those interested, the linked WhiteHouse.gov page also contains a link to download a .PDF copy of the complete Advanced Energy Initiative document. Other than cutting back on our driving and other uses of gasoline, we can't do much about the soaring costs of fuel in the short term. However, we can help the President ensure a more energy-secure future for us and our children and grandchildren. I urge all Dosers (active and lurking) to familarize themselves with the President's proposals, and to pressure your congressional representatives and senators to pass either the entire initiative or those portions of the proposals with which you agree.

Thanks for the great pictures!

Love the quote about "But so has my mother" done things he doesn't like--isn't that the truth?

Just got this from Googling eating yogurt and penicillin (a few listings down from the top...mentions herbs):

(Note: when you take penicillin or other antibiotic, the medicine kills your normal intestinal flora (many of which are also the yogurt bacteria.) If you eat yogurt while you take penicillin, you will have fewer digestive problems.)

It's vile, but it stops the pain right NOW for me.

I can remember 'painting' my throat with merthiolate. Anybody else used to do that?? Talk about VILE. Yuck!

But boy, did it work! (Wonder how much mercury I have floating around inside me. :)

If I stuck a q-tip down my throat I would gag myself to death. If you spray some of the cherry flavored in your throat you only gag once.

I hate yogurt. Plus I'm at school and I don't have a fridge. So I have no place to put yogurt even if I wanted to eat it. I'll just sue the doctor if it causes me problems cuz he never said anything about it.

Just kidding...

Well, you know how advanced modern medicine is. For all I know it may have an ingredient in it to counteract any potential problems.

No...not DOWN your throat, just paint that dangling thing, and either side of it. It's better than spraying my mouth with that ......ether-like horrid, yucky tasting (excellent working) crap! ;-)

I thought that little hangy down thing was your gag reflex. At least I think it is mine.

I also had plantar warts as a kid, and the Dr would X ray them off. In addition, I broke 7 bones, and sprained so many wrists, knees and ankles that I couldn't count them all........not to mention fingers.

I probably have so many rads in me that I should glow in the dark.

I very much appreciate medical progress. :)

(I should go out and eat some lead-infested paint and make the picture complete....)

I'm back...and I only like Dark chocolate....that looks pretty milk to me. ha ha ha

LOL! But we Californians do have the magnificent Chocolate Mountains. Nagin has a soggy, moldy "chocolate" city.
